See I know very little about math stuff and projections and terms. But theres a vague part of my mind that sees Growth Rate, and starts thinking of where those numbers go, and what wonderful formulas there are, and that little part of my head just kind of shuts down at the thought of that rabbit hole LOL.

I took a peek and am seeing some showings, but no real seat sales yet. Probably after Wednesday when cineplex does their increase of theatre volume for the week. Went to Cineplex site, and after playing around, best way I found was this. Go to Cineplex.com. Under "search" (just general search, not search films) enter Farador. Do NOT hit enter, but rather click on the Farador avatar picture. Then click on Atechtez Billets (Im not french lol). It was say in french about no dates for this showtime. Click on that to click the friday date, and that seems to bring up all the french theatres showing the film, and you can do some searching from there. Hoping my explanation makes some sort of sense. I today learned now using this trick for any film what theatres are playing it as I do my Canada searches, so thank you for the learning!

I did Southwest Ontario for awhile (London, Kitchener, Waterloo ect) and it really is a wild west when it came to counts sometimes. Theatres would have thurs but not friday shows, friday but not thursday, and some real interesting stuff where counts everywhere else would be low, but ONE theatre would have amazingly high (and vise versa). Thats awesome you're covering that area!

Posted for the sake of thinking of its future box office-Disney adds a massive amount of time to Little Mermaid Remake. https://www.cbr.com/the-little-mermaid-runtime-disney/ 2 hours and 15 minutes, original was 1 hour 27. I would have to think thats going to eat up time between films. (And thats just film adding ads/closing credits ect easily pushing a 2 and a half hour plus window)

Reading "fluff" (lack of a better term) pieces about the movie, and seeing some comic book and related sites, the little "promotion" pieces (cbr had one talking about how actors for Drax, Nebula ect) were using the talking points of "real emotional stuff" and "when you see those parts, those aren't us acting, those were emotional responses that wasn't faked" ect. My experience has tended to be (for any movie regardless of genre, studio, ect), that when I see these pieces about the "feel good"/"emotional experiences"/"really deep character development"-they often tend to be more prevalent when movies are maybe pre-opening to softer sales, "Our movie is really really good come watch this!" type of thing, instead of movie selling itself. Have to think from promotion standpoint if Marketing is really getting these out there as they may be worried at this opening. Its still a ways off and lots of time, but even from the limited Canada stuff Im seeing compared to Antman, its off to a slow start. Honestly I see this movie making 5-600 million (based on current numbers) which seems to be the rough area recently. Im not sure Disney is popping out a 1 Billion box office for MCU if this this "lag" continues (and to put in context, 90 percent of studios, esp without tentpoles, would do criminal things to get 5-600 million BO)

I myself am in Canada, and I just use the Cineplex sites and yes I manually count seats lol-its takes a bit. Pretty much you have it. The forum here is amazing for the support, and I agree with Porthos-don't go overboard. Even if its just a couple of theatres in your area-all data is good data. Do as much or as little as you feel comfortable with-it should be enjoyable to you and not feel like a job or chore. Its good to just get data and over time you'll get enough movies to compare. I found that its particularly interesting to see which movies genres do well in your area and which ones don't. And just enjoy and have fun. Ive learned a lot about the industry just posting and reading on these boards-and everyone is so good and encouraging.
