Can't . That film fell so flat. Had my interest throughout and then the end was just so uninteresting to spend all that time for that. Was she good in it. Yes yes. Should she win for That? HELL NO.

I just finished Tick Tick Boom and damn it was so good. I didn't know his story. I was familiar with Rent passingly but to learn a bit about how his story began was a pleasure. I would put this up for BP, BD, BA no question. It was so well done and it was memorable in multiple ways.
I caught Power of the Dog a few days ago. I thought it was very authentically made for the time period. Cumberbatch was excellent in the film. I actually liked all the mains. Dunst was good but her characters gets kind of disappeared the last third of the film. I didn't think it was amazing or something I'd watch again but it was well acted, beautifully shot and a nice story.
I watched House of Gucci in theatre and it was okay. Gaga was good. I thought everybody was fine really but it's not that memorable or rewatchable to me. Other than learning about the fall of Gucci and the most powerful scene being Pacino's I don't think it's going to win much.

LAST NIGHT IN SOHO
Grade - B
I liked the film. It was wonderful to listen to and to watch. I liked the story and the cast. Thomasin McKenzie, Anya and Michael Ajao stood out for me. I'm not a huge fan of Mckenzie's voice when I saw her in Old. I forget she was in other films I liked but she really popped in this one. I liked her character and how her dreams blended into reality as well as the intense fear she presents in a variety of scenes. I thought Anya played her role well as she commands the screen. Ajao stood out mainly because his character was friendly, caring and likable. I also enjoyed the soundtrack.

So I'm watching the trailer for Belfast while waiting to see Soho and for some reason it was making me emotional. Idk, but it looks like the grandpa dies and I think there'd be more emotional impact were it Dench. I just have a fondness for her and she's entering the twilight period. Maybe that's what did it.
I see right now Dune, Belfast, WSS, Gucci for BP.
As far as what else will be nominated, it doesn't look like there is anything left on the schedule that screams nomination. I think the rest is gonna be filled by stuff no one has even seen to any degree like Nomadland level.

I'm into WSS. That second trailer was so nice. I'd love to see Dune nominated in multiple cats.

I'm so glad they have a verbal commitment to doing Dune 2. I'll be more satisfied when they actually start shooting the thing because until then people can always change their minds. Though a youtuber had a theory that Legendary already had this Dune 2 commitment in the bank because of the Dune theatrical/HBO release issue. Who knows...I just want to see freaking Part 2 and death to filmmakers who film half a movie praying there will be a part 2 in the first place. That's just ratty. I love the film and the actors in it and this story. I wasn't happy they bounced Feyd for the brute instead. Come on now but whatever. So looking forward to P2. I'm gonna catch it one more time in Dolby before it gets bounced out of premium theatres for Eternals.

Raya and the Last Dragon -
I finally had time to get back to theatres after reinstating my AList sub about a month ago. Watched Chaos Landing which was better than I thought. Low expectations = mildly entertaining . Anywho, I reserved my GVK ticket a month ago and got a fellow movie watcher to attend as well. She loved it and she's not a monster film fan. Idk if she ever watched KSI though I remember hyping that back in the day. I also loved it. Caught in Dolby at my local AMC. Really hope it does Something domestically for god sakes. I'm exhausted by how folks have been downright spooked into even setting foot in a theatre. Anyway, it was fantastic. Watch it on HBO, go to the movies whatever.
