I'm desperately hoping that the animators weren't crunched.

It's rated R, of course...
Darn. And here I was hoping for a hard PG-13 /j
All kidding aside, I'm sure it'll do gangbusters.

Conflict of Interest...big time. What might benefit them personnally might hurt Warners Brs stockholders overall. That is the classic defination of Conlfict of Interest.
Question is why did not the CEO see this coming and take measures before it got to the Justice Department level?
Because I guess Zaslav sees it as a drop in the bucket.

The AMC website lists the runtime as 2 hours 25 minutes (145 mins).

I trust this cast but that news about de-aging dampens my enthusiasm.

Not a huge surprise given he did the same thing with Evil Dead. But good to know, regardless.

I wonder if we'll get a full trailer next month?

If (and that's a major if) this movie crosses the $200M WW threshold, it'll be from overseas markets. That's where these movies are typically dominant.

Oh definitely. There's a ceiling for these films. Prometheus is the sole outlier.
I don't expect that kind of gross for Romulus. I think it all depends on how much money was put into this film. If they went bonkers with the budget, it's just going to be harder for it to make a profit. These aren't really what I'd define as "blockbuster" movies, so giving them escalating budgets won't aid this franchise.
BUT, again, I'm going to see it because Fede has his hands in this project.
The fact that Romulus was meant to be a Hulu original tells me the budget was relatively modest. So hopefully, it shouldn't have a high break-even point.

I do, too. They go from solid to amazing (i'm not counting AvP). No bad apples, really.
Each movie at least tries to do something different in its style/approach.

I like all the Alien movies.
I'm sort of in the same camp, too.

I don't know how its box office will fare, but I believe in Fede to deliver a solid horror film.
That's a little hard to answer. Alien as a franchise has always been pretty niche. If reviews are positive, it could land somewhere between $125-175M WW. Maybe $200M+ in the best case scenario.

I love how the cinematography harkens back to the eery lighting of the first film while also having the color pallete of 3 and Resurrection.

This I like.
Also, is it me or does this feel like a metaphor for a corporate takeover?

Horizon and Alien have two completely separate demographics. One is a sprawling western epic, the other a sci fi horror movie.

I don't see this being a flop at all. But I'm struggling to understand why it cost 3.5x more than the first movie.

Interesting casting. Hoping it pans out.
