Probably because it won Golden Lion there.
Yeah it also helped Joker a lot at the time
I also wanted to add that making for example a comparison with Everything Everywhere they will probably end up with a similar total gross, while here in Italy instead it has already grossed 3 times as much

Hey guys I've heard that after grossing 36M euros in Italy "C'è Ancora Domani" by Paola Cortellesi is getting screened in some theaters of Paris, does anyone have any data or number?

It's possible they are waiting for when it wins 10 Oscars to increase the public interest and the potential box office?

From the reviews the latest film by Pieraccioni seems to be the worst of his career (so far) but it opened in first position with 1.3M euros
As I like to remember every time he does a new film, this is the same guy who had two movies making 40M and 38M euros in the 90'
Then some updates, The Boy and the Heron is at 6.2M, Wonka at 14.2M, C'è Ancora Domani at 35.6M and Wish at 9.1M

Little update, is now at 381.4 in North America and at 309.3M internationally. The total is 690.7M dollars

C'è Ancora Domani grossed 400k euros in its 12th weekend and surpassed the 35M euros and the 5.1M admissions of Avatar 2
Excluding the 4 Checco Zalone movies, the last Italian film to gross more by estimates was "Chiedimi se Sono Felice" by Aldo, Giovanni and Giacomo with 38M euros in 2000

@Issac Newton sure, here it is:
Highest grossing anime movies in Italy
1) The Boy and the Heron - 5.5 million
2) Captain Harlock - 5.1 million
3) Pokemon 1 - 4.7 million
4) Pokemon 2 - 3.1 million
5) Stand By Me Doraemon - 2.6 million
6) Dragon Ball Super: Broly - 2.5 million
7) Spirited Away - 1.5 million
8)Dragon Ball Super Hero - 1.4 million
9) Doraemon Movie n. 34 - 1.3 million
10) Doraemon Movie n. 35 - 1.2 million
11) The Wind Rises - 1.2 million
12) Jujutsu Kaisen 0 - 1.1 million
13) Howl's Moving Castle - 1.1 million
14) One Piece Red - 1 million
15) Ponyo - 980k
16) Dragon Ball Z Battle of Gods - 960k (two days release)
The two Pokemon movies were released between 1994 and 2001 when Cinetel wasn't tracking everything, so their real gross is likely to be 50/100% higher

After the 3.9M opening week it has a big chance to outgross Captain Harlock at 5.1M for the highest grossing anime movie in Italy, even if by estimates the title should go to the first Pokemon movie at over 9M

Deadline: Wish reached $209.5M global, the fourth-highest grossing animated release of 2023 worldwide. Internationally, the drop was good at 26% with another set of strong holds including in the Netherlands (+5%), Germany (-12%), Italy (-16%), Japan (-19%), Australia (-27%), France (-28%), Spain (-33%) and the UK (-40%). The full weekend was $19M in 51 markets for an overseas cume of $146.9M.
Korea was a new play this session, with Wish coming in at a solid $4.6M for the best Disney or Pixar animated opening since the pandemic. In Brazil, Wish opened at No. 2 with $1.7M, ahead of Encanto, Migration and Elemental. It was No. 1 in Argentina, Chile, Uruguay and Paraguay, also coming in ahead of fellow opener Migration.
Here are the Top 5 markets: France ($19.1M), Japan ($18.5M), Germany ($14.9M), UK ($14.4M) and Italy ($9.2M).
Here in Italy it had an incredible recovery, 1M opening weekend but thanks to the Christmas holidays it's now at 8M euros

We finally have some data for 2023, the total box office was 500M euros and the tickets sold were over 70M
The highest grossing movies were C'è Ancora Domani (34.5M), Barbie (32.1M), Oppenheimer (28M) and Super Mario Bros (20.4)
C'è Ancora Domani in particular is still in theaters and will soon pass the 5.06M tickets sold by Avatar 2

The Boy and The Heron
€843.325 / 107.898 admits OD including Previews!
If Numbers hold then within 2-3 Days, Italy will be bigger than Spain (€1.4M / 208K admits)
I see the others were lucky, me and my friends had to pay 11 euros...
In any case it should play without problems at least for a full week if not two

Good debuts for the jan 1st openers, 943k euros for "Succede anche nelle migliori famiglie" and 837k euros for Boy and the Heron, best debut ever for Miyazaki.
I was going to be seeing it yesterday but got hit with a nasty flu instead
Damn, I hope you will recover in time
The latest Siani comedy grossed 3M euros so I think this will pass it, while the highest grossing Ghibli movie instead is Spirited Away at 1.5M...

This is very true of course, but I wouldn't ignore how incredibly impressive C'è ancora domani's run is for an italian film in 2023. The last non-Zalone huge italian film was in 2010 with Benvenuti al Sud (and its sequel shortly after), which grossed 29M euros, and the market has only gotten weaker since.
And to find instead something bigger (excluding Zalone) we need to reach 2002 when Natale sul Nilo and Pinocchio grossed an estimate of 34M and 33M euros
-
Incredible recovery for Wish, after opening with just 1M euros it grossed 4M during it's second week and has now reached 5M!
Good increase also for Aquaman but not as strong, after the 1M opening it made 2.5M and is now at 3.5M

C'è ancora domani has surpassed Barbie. Paola is the new queen of the Italian box office. I think it's time to change the thread title.
Incredible and unbelievable result, let's not forget it opened with just 1.6M euros and this mean it had x20 legs
I'm happy that a film with such an important theme and with quality was seen by so many people (it will end with almost 5M tickets), because we really needed it

Do people know good france/spain/italy (Mexico/Aus/Brazil would be cool too but I don't think they exist) specific box office sites like Mojo or insideKino? I want to do a bit of a larger dive
Well for Italy we have Cinetel to check the daily, weekly and yearly box office but the data disappears after the end of the period
Then I use mymovies when I want to quickly see how much a film has grossed in Italy but the it isn't always perfectly precise
