Happy Christmas to everybody!
My gift for you is many new flops: Wish opened with just 1M euros (less than Encanto), Aquaman with 1M too (much less than the first), Beyoncé with 200k (less than the already bad 700k of Taylor Swift), Migration is already out of the top 10 and Ferrari after its second week looks like it won't even reach 5M euros, let alone House of Gucci
Wonka and C'è Ancora Domani instead are still going well

C'è Ancora Domani (at 31.5M euros) has now surpassed the official gross of La Vita è Bella by Roberto Benigni, making it the 5th highest grossing Italian movie in the country right after 4 Checco Zalone movies
Using instead the estimated gross C'è Ancora Domani isn't in the top 10 Italian movie, but excluding Zalone it's still the highest grossing since Pinocchio and Natale sul Nilo both in 2002

Wonka opened with 3M, the 2005 movie grossed 11M euros and I think this could pass it
C'è Ancora Domani dropped by an harsh 60% due to the 3 new releases, and it has now reached 30.5M euros

My god what a disastrous performance, a movie about Napoleon shouldn't end with just 50M more than Killers of the Flower Moon...

Why does BOM have this listed doing $175m WW when it's around $330m?
Because BOM don't give a damn about not-hollywood movies, even the biggest ones. And for the most popular box office site that's definitely not a good look...

One Piece Remake.. (゜o゜;
Damn that's huge news, I always say to my friends that if they made a "One Piece Kai" when the series end I would finally watch it, and now I'll have to keep the promise ; )

Hi guys this month I'm catching up on some Miyazaki and Ghibli films before going to see the latest one since I haven't seen many, I more or less already know what to watch and what to skip but if anyone has seen them would you recommend "When Marnie was There" and "Princess Kaguya"?
-
C'è Ancora Domani grossed 1.5M in its seventh weekend, on par with what it did on the opening one! The total is now 29.5M euros, and after outgrossing Super Mario, Spider Man, Oppenheimer and many others it should have enough to surpass the 32.1M of Barbie
It will also pass Life Is Beautiful at 31.2M as the highest grossing Italian movie excluding Zalone, but as we know in those years the counting accuracy was pretty bad and the film in reality has grossed 47M euros

Added Barbie, it should be at about 370M even if it could be a bit higher. Oppenheimer instead ended just short of the list at about 340M, exactly like Super Mario. Let's see if after winning several Oscar it will have some small re-releases

It underperformed OS. Can't see good legs.
Exactly like the Taylor Swift movie. We need instead something about Shakira or Adele!

Added Barbie, final update for Mario! In the end the two are separated by just 12M dollars

Godzilla Minus One is in theaters just for one week, but it's also impossible to find 🥲
Not a single theater in the radius of 50km, and after seeing the incredible reviews it's a real pity

If the film was better I think it could have done about 400M, but currently I'm not even sure it will reach 300M

C'è ancora domani won the fourth weekend in a row after decreasing by 10%, and reaching a total of 19M euros
The Marvels instead dropped by just 60%, as usual we are quite review-proff, whether they are very good or very bad

Really impressive underperformance, my only regret is that this didn't already happen with Love and Thunder which in my opinion is the worst Marvel film, not only for the film itself but because it was deliberately made so ridiculous and embarrassing by the director, basically an insult to the fans

Ok guys it's time to talk about "C'è Ancora Domani" by Paola Cortellesi, the film opened with 1.6M euros, and between good reviews and her promotion it then increased by 110% in its second week and by another 30% in the third one
After three weeks it's already at 13M euros and it's the highest grossing Italian movie of the past 3.5 years, and excluding Checco Zalone movies it should became the highest grossing of the past 11 years

China - $80M YN / $110M Suzume
Korea - $22M YN / $44M Suzume
Japan - $236.8M YN / $109.6 Suzume
Overseas - $153.6M YN / $224.7M Suzume
OS - China - Korea
$51.6M YN / $70.7M Suzume
1 hour ago, interiorgatordecorator said:excluding china and korea from both how does the os number look like vs your name?
The difference in the overseas gross between Suzume and Weathering With You is really impressive, and if my calculations are correct it should beat the overseas gross of Your Name and Spirited Away even excluding China and South Korea
Then obviously it's mostly because it had a better distribution thanks to Shinkai's increased fame and a better consideration towards anime movies in general

Out of curiosity, is there any little chance that the ending of Attack on Titan will also be showed in theaters maybe in a few months, taking advantage of the fact that many fans will certainly want to watch it on the big screen sooner or later?
Then I don't know if there are similar examples in the past but how many anime as famous and appreciated as Aot ended with an episode lasting an hour and a half? It would practically be the perfect opportunity

Overseas / global
This weekend, Moon declined -36% in overseas holdover markets, substantially milder than its -61% domestic drop.
Moon has now earned $47.4M overseas and $88.0M globally, or 54% overseas.
Top five market totals to date are:
- U.K. $6.8M
- France: $5.3M
- Germany: $3.6M
- Spain: $2.9M
- Australia: $2.7M
Nice that the overseas gross already surpassed the domestic gross

Me too, but at least this december I managed to do "some homework" and watched 8 Ghibli movies before going to see The Boy and the Heron next week 😵
