  1. 7 days to release, Dune 2 keeps having healthy pre-sales each day, it still remains comparable to The Flash and confortably ahead of Oppenheimer at the same timeframe. Pretty huge demand for premium screens too. It did not showed signs of a huge breakout yet but I am fairly confident at least a R$10M+ opening should be a lock.
  2. Monday-wednesday (19-21 february) mid-week box office: 1) One Love: R$1.6M/ 98.1k admissions 2) Madame Web: R$1.3M/ 88.4k admissions 3) Anyone But You: R$1.13M/ 71.2k admissions 4) Poor Things: R$530k/ 28k admissions 5) Nosso Lar 2: R$466k/ 30k admissions The reign of Madame Web lasted short. The mid-week was pretty weak, probably due to the imminent discount.
  3. This weekend's screen count: Ferrari - 690 screens Demon Slayer - 500 screens Boy and Heron - 281 screens (Largest release from a Ghibli movie to date) Blue Whale - 260 screens Levante - 30 screens

Madame Web and One Love fought for the first place with MW winning the weekend, but there is very little reason to celebrate: It was the worst opening for a Marvel movie in 12 years, only better than Ghost Rider 2 that made R$5.9M back in 2012. On the long counting pre-sales One Love won, opening above Elvis's R$4.9M. Other one that deserves praise is Poor Creatures that managed to increased and it is showing tremendous legs. Aquaman 2 is now finally out of the list just like Argylle. Now 6 movies have passed 1 million admissions this year. Next weekend is Cinema Week with the release of The Boy and the Heron (The movie already made R$280k from special screenings), Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaba, Ferrari, Land of Bad, The Blue Whale, Levante and Cedo Demais.
  5. The first 24 hours of pre-sales of Dune 2 are just a little above those from The Flash. That is decent actually, given that The Flash opened with R$16M+ and the first Dune opened with "only" R$5M.
  6. Announced a while ago, the 4th Cinema Week will start on february 22nd, where tickets will be cheaper alongside food combos. Reminder that these boost box office a lot.
  7. Madame Web will probably lead the weekend, but I don't think One Love will be far behind
  8. Monday-wednesday (12-14 february) mid-week box office: 1) Anyone But You: R$3.9M /196k admissions 2) Bob Marley: R$3.2M/ 163k admissions (3 days of previews) 3) Aquaman 2: R$1.5M/ 80k admissions 3) Madame Web: R$1.5M/ 80k admissions (1 day of previews) 4) Poor Creatures: R$1.4M/ 70k admissions 5) Nosso Lar 2: R$800k/ 40k admissions 6)Zone of Interest: R$400k/ 20k admissions (1 day of previews) Surprisingly, the previews for Madame Web were the exact same of those from Morbius. Anyone But You have passed 1 million admissions and the mid-week, as expected, was more profitable than the weekend.
  9. The first two days of previews for One Love sold R$2.6M and 120k tickets.
  10. I am not gonna count the pre-sales for Madame Web like I usually do. Too much going on and I don't have the time, I hope you'll understand. But I will tell you it is indeed the worst I've seen from a Marvel movie, worse than The Marvels. The holidays could be deceiving and it could see better walk-ins than usual due to that, but if it reaches the top spot it will be only due to last two weekends being weak and the next one likely being weak too. It just looks bad and funny enough there is far more marketing for One Love than Madame Web.
  11. That was the weekend of Carnaval, usually a very weak weekend for cinemas, and again if the trend continues the weekdays should be stronger than this weekend's numbers. Not surprisingly it was the worst weekend of the year but it was also down from the Carnaval last year, the lack of big releases are starting to hurt. Still, Anyone but You holded great and will pass 1 million admissions in the next couple of days. It already passed Ticket to Paradise. Aquaman 2 should also pass Black Adam soon. Migration also took the chance to come back to life. Next weekend releases One Love, Madame Web (The first already started the pre-releases, on wednesday Madame Web starts), The Zone of Interest and Masha and the Bear: Twice the Fun.
  12. Monday-Wednesday (05-07 february) mid-week box office: 1) Anyone But You: R$2.2M/ 140.47k admissions 2) Nosso Lar 2: R$1.95M/ 120k admissions 3) Poor Things: R$900k/ 49.1k admissions 4) Aquaman 2: R$860k/ 50.1k admissions Argylle is confirmed to had released on 750 screens last weekend. Indeed a big bomb. Next weekend is the Carnaval, if the trend from past two years repeat, then the weekend should be worse than the mid week.
  13. The time have come Webheads, Madame Web's pre-sales are on. After checking out, I can say this: First day of pre-sales: Madame Web < The Zone of Interest. Yep.

But despite that, fun fact: It was the first weekend this year to finish above the same period from last year. In a really rare event, Anyone But You is up more than 58% compared to the opening weekend, without the need of holidays or increases of the number of screens. On admissions the growth was even more impressive: up 67%+ from the opening weekend. WoM is really really really strong, like I say, the run in Brazil will be special. Nosso Lar 2 passed 1 million admissions, becoming movie no.5 to do it this year and the 2nd brazilian. Reminder: Disney's expectations is to sell 2 millions total. Poor Creatures also overperformed, opening 125% above The Favourite and the 2nd best opening for a Searchlight Pictures filme, losing only to Shape of Water. Meanwhile Argylle opened only on the 7th place, but reviews at least are being more kind than on US so it can have legs, I guess? Next weekend releases The Color Purple, Baghead, Moneyboys and Ernest & Celestine. On monday the pre-release of One Love starts and on wednesday, Madame Web.
  15. It is still soon, but keep an eye on One Love. It does look like the next one in line to overperform in Brazil.
  16. On thursday Anyone But You made R$835k and reached 1st place, growing more than 45% from its opening day. You are about to see something very special with the legs of this movie in Brazil. Nosso Lar 2 got the short end of WoM and made R$805k, down 75%. Poor Things is in third with a healthy R$380k

First month of this year is down from last year, blamed the fact that there was no big 3D movie this month compared to Avatar. However the big winner is the local movies, that compared to january last year are up an impressive 2200%.

Nosso Lar 2 broke records of not just hitting the first place but to have the 6th best opening for a brazilian movie (unadjusted) and to double the opening of the first one. Absolutely a massive achievement for local movies after a tough 4 years. Anyone But You also had a great start. It opened in 5th place on thursday but WoM kicked really soon and it climbed on friday, then again on saturday and again on sunday. Legs will probably be very nice like on USA. Migration have passed 1 million admissions total, Principe Lu despite the opening had a slightly lower opening than the previous Lucas Netto movie (opening so close to Wish and Migration probably was a bad idea). Anatomy of a Fall had also a strong start and had the best averages from this list. Next weekend releases Argylle, Poor Things, When the Evil Lurks, Ernest & Celestine, Gato Galactico e o Feitiço do Tempo and Peppa Pig's Party.
  21. Nosso Lar 2 opened at 1st on thursday with R$3M and 163.8k admissions, the best opening day for a brazilian movie since 2019, above the first movie's 130k admissions and the best overall for a movie since FNAF. The other brazilian opening, Principe Lu, opened on 7th place with RS400k and 20.3k admissions (40k+ with pre-sales), above the 14k from Os Aventureiros.
  22. Monday-Wednesday (22-24 january) Mid Week box office: 1) Aquaman 2: R$2.09M/ 127.5k admissions 2) Wish: R$2M/ 130k admissions 3) Minha Irmã e Eu: R$1.98M/ 129.2k admissions 4) Migration: ?????????? 5)Mean Girls: R$920k/ 56.1k admissions 6) Night Swim: R$770k/ 49.2k admissions I got the numbers R$3M+/200k admissions for Migration, I did not report that since I assume it is a mistake, that's way too high. Anyway, in admissions Aquaman 2 fell to third place, a sign that it will probably lose the lead this weekend. I am totally expecting Nosso Lar 2 to take the 1st place based on today, that is some of the strongest opening days I've seen from a brazilian movie even before the pandemic. Sold out screens everywhere. Anyone But You, Anatomy of a Fall and Past Lives looks like are doing pretty strong too. Oh and without warning, Barbie is back to theaters and Poor Things is doing pre-releases in some cities, and Oppenheimer is back too. Award season is now.
  23. This weekend's screen count: Nosso lar 2: 928 screens Principe Lu: 600 screens Anyone But You: 500 screens Anatomy of a Fall: 150 screens Past Lives: 75 screens All the Names of God: 84 screens Bizarros Peixes das Fossas Abissais: 60 screens
