  1. Monday-wednesday (11-13 december) mid-week box office: 1) Wonka: R$5M/ 301k admissions 2) Hunger Games: R$900k/ 63,2k admissions 3) Napoleon: R$700k/ 50k admissions 4) Voo 375: R$620k/ 40,4k admissions 5) Thanksgiving: R$590k/ 39,2k admissions 6) Trolls 3: R$252,4k 7) Poliana: R$192k Wonderful, simply wonderful mid-week for all movies. School break is in full effect already. This weekend's screen count: -Tá Escrito: 613 screens -Godzilla Minus One: 450 screens -Queen Mary: 440 screens -Nutcracker: ??? -Uma Carta Para Papai Noel: 91 screens -The Mean One: 65 screens -Next Goal Wins: 60 screens -Seventeen: 16 screens (saturday only)
  2. No Sonic 3, Kung Fu Panda 4 and Godzilla X Kong, Beetlejuice 2 in 2nd place. Yeah, I'm calling bs
  3. Since last time I checked, pre-sales for sure have improved a lot. Still not the level you would want for DC/Marvel but absolutely selling faster than Blue Beetle and Marvels at that point. Right now I will say the movie for sure won't be the massive hit the first one was but it should make some good money.
  4. I've heard about the movie selling 50k tickets on the first week of pre-sales, however I only saw this being reported in one place and it was a fan page, so unfortunately I cannot confirm how accurate that is.

Pretty good start for Wonka and anticipating the trend from the next few weeks of above usual legs and above usual multipliers now that school break have started in most of the country. Expect the weekdays to get a bit stronger too. Despite everything, 2023 was a good year for Warner in Brazil since from their 13 releases so far 6 released at 1st place (And Aquaman 2 will be no. 7). Napoleon and Hunger Games kept the strong legs and still managed to be really close to each other. Thanksgiving completely wiped All Fun and Games from the ranking. Next weekend will release Godzilla Minus One, Haunting of Queen Mary, The Mean One, Tá Escrito, Uma Carta Para o Papai Noel, Nutcracker and the Magic Flute and the Seventeen Tour (on saturday).
  6. Weak start for Aquaman's pre sales. Better than The Marvels but similar to Blue Beetle (remider that BB was saved by outstanding WoM in the region).
  7. Wonka opened on thursday with R$1.3M and 72.3k admissions. Thanksgiving opened with R$220k, 12.1k admissions Voo 375 opened with R$195k, 10k admissions. School break is starting now, what could lead to better-than-usual legs. Oh and Aquaman 2 started pre sales too.
  8. Monday-wednesday (04-07 december) in admissions: 1) - Hunger Games: 105k 2) - Napoleon: 98k 3) - The Marvels: 40k 4) - AFAG: 34k 5) - Poliana: 23k 6) - Ó Paí, Ó 2: 18k These last 7 days were the lowest grossing week of 2023.

Outstanding hold for the second weekend of Napoleon and also for Hunger Games. Both repeated last weekend's dance with Napoleon winning on the box office and Hunger Games winning on admissions. We also saw the first time in 23 years a Digimon movie released in theaters, managing to crack the top 10. Big weekend coming up next with Wonka, Thanksgiving, Silent Night, O Sequestro do Voo 375, Maestro, Journey to Bethlehem and Rosa de Saron in Concert

Part of it can be blamed of some that failed to deliver like The Marvels and Mussum, also for not having a super major hit like Wakanda Forever last year.
  12. The general director from Cinepolis Brazil reported that the expectations for 2024's box office is to be down 6% when compared to 2023, reasons for that is pessimism over Hollywood's movies next year and the difficult to reduce ticket prices due to the current situation. He noted that the strong lineup of brazilian movies could help avoid that. He also estimated that audience numbers should only recover to pre-pandemic levels by 2026.

  15. Opening aside, these two plus Migration will probably see some very healthy legs over the holiday. I am surprised with the amount of friends that said to me about being excited for Wonka, honestly if it is at least fun the WoM could be huge.
  16. Lionsgate+ will be discontinued on Brazil on december 11. About the exclusive content available only on their platform, there is no information of what will happen to those. At least for a while there could be no legal way to watch that content in Brazil.
  17. No I don't believe it will. Taylor and MJ managed those numbers with a very large number of screens that doesn't look like they will give to Beyonce unless things change closer to release.
  18. Taking a little ride on @Taylor89's question, here is the ranking for the top concert movies of all time: 1) Taylor Swift - The Eras Tour: R$7.94M 2) Michael Jackson - This is It: R$6.36M 3) BTS - Yet to Come: R$6.32M 4) Justin Bieber - Never Say Never: R$5.03M 5) Katy Perry - Part of Me: R$ 2.05M 6) BTS - Permission to Dance on Stage Seoul: R$1.85M (Don't trust this number, it can been more) 7) One Direction - This is Us: R$1.83M 8 )Jonas Brothers 3D: R$1.32M 9) Justin Bieber - Believe: R$966k 10) U2 3D: R$623k From the look of it Beyonce looks pretty good to enter the list's top 5. R$5M+ could happen if they get generous with the amount of screens, it doesn't have that many screens on pre-sale right now but it's still too far away so we could tell how big the rollout will be.

Napoleon and Hunger Games are sniffing each other this weekend, the first won on box office and the second on admissions. That was actually a pretty decent opening for Napoleon for the kind of movie it is, it opened with more than double of Killers of the Flower Moon. Hunger Games have passed the total of the first movie, while it is out of the question for it to pass the previous two movies, it could still pass Catching Fire before the end of its run. Trolls 3 is now the best selling of the trilogy, amazing legs, and Greek Wedding 3 bombed, hard, like really REALLY hard. Is not even close to the first two. We also had two local movies in the top 10 this weekend. Next weekend releases Digimon Adventure 02, As Aventuras de Poliana, All Fun and Games, NCT Nation, Aristotle and Dante, The Retirement Plan and Pedágio.
  20. Napoleon released in 1st place on the box office, with R$734k and 33.4k admissions, while Hunger Games remained the leader of admissions with 36.2k. Both will be in a close race for the weekend. Ó Paí, Ó 2 released in 4th with 9.3k admissions.
  21. Monday - wednesday (21 - 22 november) in admissions: 1)- Hunger Games: 250k 2) - The Marvels: 116k 3) - FNAF: 66k

Pre-sales are low but honestly, in context doesn't look all that bad? Hystorical epics are hardly something that catch Brazil's eyes, the fact that it is selling something at all on the advance tickets is actually kinda neat. Not looking at any signs of breaking out (again, pre-sales are low), but since KotFM managed to become a small success over here, why not this too?
  24. Look at how many people are browsing this thread these past hours. We really are all out of our caves for this huh

Well, that was disapointing, more than 1/3 from the opening of Hunger Games came from the opening day alone. I was expecting it to be frontloaded but not THAT frontloaded. Figures. Marvels had a big drop as expected but at least it should pass 1 million admissions after all. Trolls 3 despite the opening saw amazing legs and should become the best selling of the trilogy next weekend. Ó Paí, Ó 2 had previews in Bahia and had the best average from the top 10. Next weekend is time for Napoleon, Ó Paí, Ó 2, My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3, The New Toy, Não tem Volta and Durval Discos.
