  1. Mid-Week (22-24 april) box office: 1) Civil War: R$2.8M/ 140k admissions 2) GxK: R$1.1M/ 70k admissions 3) Kung Fu Panda 4: R$1.1M/ 80k admissions 4) Ghostbusters: ??? 5) Evidências do Amor: R$475k/ 25k admissions Despite the low weekend, the mid-week was pretty great for the box office.
  2. It ca I cannot say much for the other releases, but from the sales it really does look like Challengers will be off to a good one in Brazil. Meanwhile, Planet of the Apes have passed the pre-sales from GxK with 15 days to go. Bad comp, true, because GxK really did bad on pre-sales until it was out and had a surge, but it is safe to say Planet of the Apes is off to a breakout in Brazil.
  3. THIS WEEKEND's SCREEN COUNT: -Pooh Blood and Honey 2: 521 screens -Challengers: ??? -Spy x Family: 400 screens -Aumenta que é Rock'n'Roll: 355 screens -Boy Kills World: 329 screens -Simple Comme Sylvain: 37 screens -La Chimera: 29 screens
  4. Wednesday Next weekend, on 1st may, will be a holiday and to take advantage of the xtended holiday many movies will be opening that day instead of the weekend and have started the pre-sales already, including garfield, Love Lies Bleeding, the next Chosen, Ferias Trocadas and Sleeping Dogs. Fall Guy will open even sooner with midnight screenings on tuesday.
  5. Civil War opened at 1st place, breaking the best opening ever for an A24 movie, and the first from them to open at 1st place. Despite that and the good legs for the top 5, the other two openings though bombed, and that made this weekend to be one of the worst weekends of the year. Lots of releases next weekend, with Challengers, Spy x Family: Code White, Boy Kills World, Winnie-The-Pooh Blood and Honey 2, Aumenta que é Rock'n'Roll, La Chimera and Club Zero.
  6. Civil War opened at 1st place on thursday, with R$824.5k and 38.4k admissions. It was the best opening day for A24. Opening weekend should be on the range of R$6.5M-9M, the lower range if it performs like Napoleon. GxK is down to second with R$287.9k and 16.1k admissions. That said however, it didn't stop this thursday to be the second worst thursday in grossing of the year, behind march 14th.
  7. Mid-week Box office (15-17 april) 1) GxK: R$1.36M/ 91.430 admissions 2) Ghostbusters: R$970k/ 61.420 admissions 3) Kung Fu Panda 4: R$830k/ 60.920 admissions 4) Evidências do Amor: R$730k/ 46.250 admissions 5) The First Omen: R$420k/ 29.710 admissions 6) Os Farofeiros 2: R$280k/ 23.680 admissions The first 7-days of Ghostbusters ended on a negative note as it turned out lower than Afterlife's first 7 days.
  8. This weekend's screen count: - Civil War: 1050 screens - Abigail: >400 screens - Jorge da Capadócia: 393 screens - Vidente por Acidente: 235 screens - Hearthless: 33 screens - Green Border: 10 screens
  9. I do not have comps, but I can say that the pre-sales for Planet of the Apes keep growing and are looking pretty decent for a movie still pretty far off, it is safe to say that movie already have Brazil locked on.
  10. Box office 11 - 14 april Movie Box Office (R$) Change (%) Total (R$) Admissions Admissions total (Est) 1 Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire 4.740.000 -46.7% 32.880.000 229.470 --- 2 Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire 3.730.000 --- 3.730.000 169.680 169.680 3 Kung Fu Panda 4 3.670.000 -35.5% 35.070.000 174.630 --- 4 Evidências do Amor 2.570.000 --- 2.570.000 115.650 115.650 5 August: Tour D-Day the Movie 2.230.000 --- 2.230.000 65.530 65.530 6 The First Omen 1.580.000 -47.5% 5.600.000 73.290 --- 7 Os Farofeiros 2 1.020.000 -44.8% 33.820.000 47.920 --- 8 10 Lives 610.000 --- 610.000 27.270 27.270 9 Dune Part 2 430.000 -57% 37.330.000 14.290 --- 10 Arthur the King 400.000 -66.6% 2.090.000 15.590 --- (Will update the admissions totals later today) R$22.6M were sold on the box office and 1M tickets, down 10% from last weekend. Ghostbusters had a good multiplier on the weekend and ended on the higher end after the thursday number. The opening was R$700k above the previous movie, but still far from good as it was still half from what the 2016 version opened. GxK and KFP4 keep steady with great legs and First Omen is the best selling horror this year (so far, a bad year for the genre). Next weekend releases Civil War, Jorge da Capadocia, Abigail, The Green Border and Vidente por Acidente. It will be fun to follow how the first two will perform.
  11. Ghostbusters opened yesterday in 2nd with R$341k and Evidências do Amor pretty much tied with R$328k. Back in the day Afterlife opened with just R$3M and Frozen Empire should also open in that range.
  12. Mid-week box office (08-10 april) 1) Godzilla x Kong: R$2M/ 100k admissions 2) Kung Fu Panda 4: R$1,03M/ 65k admissions 3) The First Omen: R$990k/ 61k admissions 4) Suga: August D-Tour D-Day the Movie: R$871.1k/ 23.6k admissions (wednesday only) 5) The Chosen: R$625k/ ?? admissions 6) Os Farofeiros 2: R$590k/ 30k admissions It will be wise not to expect Ghostbuster to move many seat this weekend, btw
  13. Planet of the Apes have opened the pre-sales, first 24 hours have sold 1/3 from the first day of Dune 2. However, Apes opened pre-sales more than two weeks and a half before Dune 2 opened their's. So this is good for Apes, solid start.
  14. This weekend's screen count: - Ghostbusters: 900 screens - Evidências do Amor: 700 screens - 10 Lives: 360 screens - The Pot-au-feu: 60 screens - A Paixão Segundo GH: 44 screens - After Death: 21 screens - As Linhas da Minha Mão: 14 screens
  15. Garfield have been pushed closer and will now release on may 1st, almost a month before the US release. Civil War's marketing is the most expensive ever from Diamond Films, A24's distributor in the country. It's really strong and its been treated as a big blockbuster.
  16. Box office 04 - 07 april Movie Box Office (R$) Change (%) Total (R$) Admissions Admissions total (Est) 1 Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire 8.890.000 -31.1% 25.400.000 400.800 1.200.000 2 Kung Fu Panda 4 5.690.000 -28.1% 29.900.000 266.400 1.470.000 3 The First Omen 3.010.000 --- 3.010.000 136.518 136.518 4 Os Farofeiros 2 1.850.000 -31.1% 32.000.000 86.730 1.680.000 5 Arthur the King 1.200.000 --- 1.300.000 55.240 55.240 6 The Chosen Season 4: Episodes 1-3 1.200.000 -54.7% 12.700.000 57.720 640.000 7 Dune Part 2 1.000.000 -44.4% 36.200.000 36.620 1.550.000 8 Dois é Demais em Orlando 441.000 --- 1.320.000 18.980 61.430 9 Uma Família Feliz 324.000 --- 341.000 14.590 14.590 10 Mother's Instinct 307.000 -54.1% 1.150.000 11.120 42.920 R$25M and 1.2M tickets were sold on the period, down 20% from last weekend. GxK and KFP4 had excelent holds and both are on the way to become the best selling from their franchises. The First Omen had the best opening from a horror this year, but still a far cry from the big horror openings from last year. Arthur the King opened low, totally expected. Next weekend is a busy one with Ghostbusters, Evidências do Amor, 10 Lives, After Death, As Linhas da Minha Mão and Pearl Jam.
  17. This weekend's screen count: - The First Omen: 666 screens (That was SO on purpose lmao) - Arthur the King: 580 screens - Dream Scenario: 120 screens - Licensa para Enlouquecer: 50 screens - Uma Família Feliz: >50 screens - Till the End of the Night: 6 screens - Musik: 5 screens
  18. On march, 7.5M tickets were sold and R$159.3M on the box office, up 28.3% from last year's march. On the first quarter of 2024, the brazilian cinemas sold a total of R$517.8M on the box office and 26.8M tickets were sold, up 7.8% from the same period last year. Local movies represent 25% of the market share and compared to the box office last year, local movies are up a not even funny 1985.8%. And that is comparing the first quarter of this year to the whole last year!
  19. Box office 28 - 31 march Movie Box Office (R$) Change (%) Total (R$) Admissions Admissions total (Est) 1 Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire 12.900.000 --- 12.900.000 583.350 583.350 2 Kung Fu Panda 4 7.900.000 -32.6% 22.500.000 372.740 1.110.000 3 Os Farofeiros 2 2.700.000 -41.3% 29.500.000 132.960 1.540.000 4 The Chosen Season 4: Episodes 1-3 2.650.000 -55.1% 10.500.000 124.610 522.840 5 Dune Part 2 1.800.000 -40.4% 35,100,000 67.950 1.490.000 6 Dois é Demais em Orlando 730.000 --- 730.000 33.160 33.160 7 Mother's Instinct 670.000 --- 670.000 23.810 23.810 8 Dona Lurdes - O Filme 260.000 --- 260.000 11.490 11.490 9 One Life 230.000 -64.1% 2.500.000 7.180 93.200 10 Perfect Days 150.000 --- 1.600.000 6.890 83.190 R$31M was sold on the box office last weekend and 1.4M admissions, up 7%. GxK did indeed beat the pessimistic pre-sales and had the best opening of the year and the best from the Monsterverse, meanwhile KFP4 had a great hold and beat 1M admissions already, while The Chosen passed half a million. More 'Chosen' releases have already been confirmed for brazilian theaters. This weekend had two local movies (Dois é Demais and Dona Lurdes) that had quite a few marketing push so they are probably not happy with their placement on the list. Also we had what I believe is the first time Perfect Days charts on the top 10 since its release. Next weekend will release Arthur the King, Dream Scenario, The First Omen, Uma Família Feliz, The Good Mother and Musik.
  20. $2.5M is being reported as the opening for GxK, R$12M+. That would maķe the best opening from the Monsterverse and possibly of the year.
  21. Like I suspected, no numbers today, we will have to wait longer for any update from Brazil. What I can say though is that walk-ins yesterday and today have been quite good. I am pretty confident those ranges can be beaten.
  22. MID-WEEK BOX OFFICE (25-27 MARCH) 1) Kung Fu Panda 4: R$3.27M/ 170,2k admissions 2) The Chosen: R$1.9M/ 125.64k admissions 3) Os Farofeiros: R$1.4M/ 100k admissions
  23. Godzilla x Kong, NATAL T-1 T-1 Cinemark: 6 showings, 1656 seats, 85 sold (5.13%) T-1 Cinepolis: 9 showings, 1318 seats, 13 sold (0.9%) T-1 Moviecom: 5 showings, 804 seats, 37 sold (4.6%) T-1 Cineflix: 5 showings, 1342 seat, 85 sold (6.3%) T-1 Total: 25 showings, 5120 seats, 220 sold (4.3%) COMPS: Dune 2: (58.8%) - R$940k The Flash (47.7%) - R$1.01M Transformers: RotB (145.6%) - R$1.07M The Meg 2 (500%) - R$5.5M (Ok, ignore that one lol) Slow final day for sure for GxK. Normal comps would put thursday around R$1M and a weekend around R$6.5M-8M. Back in the day Godzilla KotM opened with R$4.7M so despite good legs I remind you again that Monsterverse is not that big in Brazil. But then again, this might all be the holiday in friday messing up the opening day and yes, right now I am seeying some movement for friday. I wished I had better comps but unfortunately we didn't had a case of a big blockbuster opening on thursday with a holiday on friday. Right now better stick from what we have, that would be the realistic expectation. Also due to the holiday the thursday number might not be tracked on friday as usual but I'll do my best to see if I can get anything.
  24. It should and most likely will, Brazil LOVES representation on Hollywood movies. If anything I think they messed up for not using Rio more in the marketing. The marketing for Civil War for example is going all in about having Wagner Moura as the co-lead of the movie.
