  1. Barbie can't be compared to a regular solo mcu movie. How much Ant-Man quantunmania would have grossed without nerds support?
  2. They aren't just angry online mobs, they are nerds who were supporting & watching every mcu movie & specifically boycotting this movie. MCU is different, general audiences is key for the success of big event movies like Avengers but for regular solo MCU movies support from nerds is must.
  3. Thor was always strong from the beginning & so the Hulk. This is just another excuse for disliking Captain Marvel. What mistake(in the eyes of those nerds) they did that they showed her more stronger than Hulk & Thor.
  4. Did the movie hint at or show any future arc of Captain Marvel? I mean, we know about post-credit spoilers, but is there anything in the movie that indicates or shows what the future arc of Carol is going to be after this movie? You can DM me or reply with spoilers tag.
  5. She had some 5-10 seconds of screen time in that scene. Forget Casual, that post credit wasn't enough for even hardcore fans to make them excited for her and The Marvels.
  6. Hate is definitely affecting the Marvels. They showed in her first movie and then Endgame that she is stronger than Hulk or Thor, and that made her unlikeable to those insecure nerds who were invested in Thor and Hulk at that time. Plus, Feige said she would lead the MCU, and that made them even more insecure as they were invested in characters such as Doctor Strange and Spider-Man. A MCU movie can't go this low without some kind of hostility from the nerds. A solo MCU movie needs the support of nerds to make respectable numbers at the box office; this isn't getting their support, as presales indicate. The first one was average for most people, but the marvels look much better than that. I've seen a clip of the movie today, and it was very good.
  7. I would say most of the casuals are aware of the hate as most of them uses Youtube, facebook twitter. But I won't say that most of the casuals are not watching this movie because of hate but its true that a large number of casuals have been influenced by hate campaign; most casuals are not interested in The Marvels because the sequel is releasing after 4.5 years & because they aren't interested in other 2 D+ characters in the movie. Except Captain Marvel all other infinity Saga characters after their last appearance in Endgame or Infinity War got a project in this Saga in around 2-3 years. Edit: So casuals aren't interested in The Marvels because of above reasons & a large number of nerds have decided to boycott the movie. The movie is only getting support from some loyal hardcore MCU fans who aren't hostile towards the character or the actor & they aren't much in numbers, so this is struggling to cross 200m WW.
  8. The hate campaign might have started 2-3 months before the release of Captain Marvel, but most of the casual fans were unaware of that hate campaign, and most of the nerds were extremely hyped for Endgame, so the hate campaign didn't impact the box office at that time. But the real hate campaign for the character and actress started after the Captain Marvel movie, especially after Endgame. The main reason nerds hate her is insecurity. You could have easily felt that insecurity if you'd ever visited a Marvel Reddit sub or some CBM YouTube video related to her. But my question is: why didn't Feige do anything to reduce that insecurity and make them comfortable with her? If she is a supporting character like Hulk or Black Widow in this saga, then he should have made it clear to those nerds and should've told them that Sam, Peter, or Strange are the leads of this saga. Yes there are issues like quality & lack of direction but it didn't impact other marvel movies like GOTG3 & Spider-verse this year & it it not going to impact upcoming DP3 & Cap4 and even Thunderbolts. The hate I believe is specific for this movie & it's lead actor & character.
  9. After 5 years of continuous hate campaigns against the actress and the character and nothing in support from Marvel Studios and its main actors for her, this was imminent. These nerds have influenced millions and millions of causal fans through this hate campaign; this movie had no chance to succeed at the box office. But my question is: why didn't Feige do anything to subside or reduce hate for the character? Most of these nerds are insecure nerds; sexist might not be the right word to describe them, as they claim they're interested in other MCU female characters. So why didn't Feige announce the leads of Avengers and say Sam Wilson, Peter Parker, or Strange will lead the Avengers? This would have reduced the hatred for the character a lot. He could have also said that she is not stronger in physical strength than their favorites, such as Hulk or Thor. So why didn't Feige even try? Or is she really going to lead the Avengers in the future, and they're planning to make her likeable to those nerds by putting her in the next Spider-Man movie? I really don't understand why Feige didn't do anything to reduce hate.
  10. After taking leadership lessons in The Marvels, she will be part of the Avengers team as a supporting player and would take orders from someone else? like it or not, but her becoming leader of the Avengers is going to be a big contradiction in the MCU moving forward.
  11. Except for CA and IM, have they ever called any other Avengers the leader before in any MCU movie? But they are calling her the leader. Also, Brie, in one promo for The Marvels, was saying that the movie is about her getting to understand what it means to be a leader. So after getting leadership lessons in The Marvels, she will now be a part of an Avengers team as a supporting player, Huh?
  12. Lmao this is a big contradiction in the MCU. As per a recent survey, Avengers and Spider-Man are the most in-demand franchises. Marvel Studios is calling her the leader in their promo for The Marvels. So if people aren't interested in the leader of the Avengers, then how would they be interested in the Avengers? Can anyone explain how this will work out for the MCU?
  13. She hasn't tweeted since October 5; this is already the longest break she has taken from social media this year. Maybe she wants to avoid toxicity.
  14. If they release a sequel to a female-led CBM movie after 4.5 years, they can't expect that the female audience will care about it, especially when the first one was just average & character had just cameo appearance in 1 Avengers movie. The character faded away from the minds of females in those 4.5 years. In those 4.5 years, they introduced half a dozen new female characters and saturated the market. They also took away the X factor (the most powerful hero) from the character and gave that tag to Wanda. The trailer didn't even focus on its lead character. Females don't much care about Captain Marvel now because Marvel Studios didn't give shit about Captain Marvel after Endgame.
  15. Yes Deadline also mentioned this in the article. And I can't comment on your last paragraph because of @Eric Mouse
  16. You're right but the likes that tweet got aren't just from people who didn't like that social commentary but they are from mixture of people. And this is just 1 tweet, I've seen a number of other hit hate tweets for this movie, such a hate was absent for other MCU movies before their releases.
  17. A lot of people bought tickets to MoM just because they believed the movie was "important". A few of those were my friends too. So what is important or not important may not matter much for other franchises, but it definitely matters a lot when it comes to the MCU, and this is the reason why Captain Marvel made 1.1B because people thought the movie is very important to understand Endgame. So interest is directly proportional to importance in the MCU.
  18. Nope I'm not saying that. I'm not saying that those who don't want to watch the movie are all brie haters. But a narrative definitely exists for this movie that this movie is total garbage, whereas such a narrative was absent for other MCU movies. And yes, you're right that Marvel Studios past mistakes are responsible for this. Also, the 4.5-year gap between the first one and this one was just too much for a character who had just a 5-minute cameo in Endgame and whose first movie wasn't that much liked. The character faded away from the minds of even those who cared about it, including females.
  19. Nope, this is a mixture of both those who have presumptions that the movie is bad and those who hate the lead actor and the character. And your last sentence proves my point that people already believe that movie is bad even though reviews aren't out yet.
  20. I've seen a lot of hit hate tweets against this movie and not a single hit love tweet for this movie in the past few months. It seems like a lot of people have pre-decided not to give this movie even a try because they have the presumption that the movie is bad and because they have irrational hatred towards its lead actor and the character. I don't know how much the reviews are going to help this movie when they have pre-decided not to give it a try in bad faith.
  21. We can't say for sure that this will cross 200m WW; crossing 300m would be very difficult for this, and the only way this can gross more than 400m WW is if it becomes a big breakout movie in the US or China. More than the movie's box office, I'm now interested in whether it gets good critics and audience scores or not, and what's the future of Captain Marvel in the MCU after this.
  22. Brie to THR at D23expo last year. The Marvels is about her realizing that she makes mistakes & she needs help & support & it will be the new beginning of her phase in the MCU.
  23. A lot of male fans were already hostile towards her, but some female fans have also become hostile towards her because of Wanda. Sins committed by Marvel Studios and Feige are hurting this movie.
