  1. Hunger Games is an origin. I don’t think we can start putting sequels/prequels is the nostalgia box.
  2. Most people don't seem to know its there. All these subscription servers will go in this direction due to the obsession over 'minutes watched'. If your subscriber is off playing Spider-Man 2 on their PS5 their not engaged with your content. Its of course going to be a disaster as specialisation matters.
  3. Having it in the 90s clearly helped it stand out from other nostalgia rests but I have to say this quote left out at me. Like wtf goes through these peoples heads?! I really don’t understand why Marvel have such a difficult time with Captain Marvel. It’s a fairly cookie cutter character who hey could have brought depth to if they had wanted. Also interesting to see a direct quote that the MCU beast is impacting their ability to get directorial talent for their films. Which I think we all speculate on but clearly played a role here.
  4. That bridge is burnt now for both characters but if they are in Avengers then I agree linking them up and sending them on a cosmic quest makes a lot of sense. Chuck in a low level Avenger to ground them and provide levity.
  5. Why are people shocked or upset that the press are reporting on a mega bomb from the highest grossing franchise of all time? Of course thats getting more attention than artistic projects Apple paid too much for. Just be glad MCU is not in such a state its no longer getting headlines.
  6. OW is not the most interesting thing for Godzilla to me - it'll be its second weekend. Did fans just front load this one after the original film built a cult following or are we seeing wider WOM with GA.
  7. Feige literally has been sticking multiverse stuff into every MCU film. This just seems fan wanky to me with big evil corporate Sony and good guy Disney.
  8. Ultimately the actors who quit are not coming back in the next episode. It's a ridiculous suggestion.
  9. Feige is the President of Marvel Studios. Hes the guy supposed to be supervising. If hes not doing that just sack him.
  10. This just shows Iger doesn't really understand the issues. Disney execs are clearly culturally tied to the idea to the idea of fixing issues during the shoot or post. More pre-production work should have flagged up issues with the concept, story and villain. COVID is not an excuse for that.
  11. . Iger must have green lit major reshoots for CA4. All his comments today can be read into however you want he’s being purposefully unspecific.
  12. Hilarious thing is I can't think of a Disney film with a 'message' to sell.
  13. The fact Marvel is doing a spin off from What If...? is just bizarre to begin with. The whole point in that is niche, no?
  14. PG Deadpool is literally pointless and would kill a massive amount of hype for it. Again I just feel a lot of people haven’t watched or understand the draw of Deadpool. It’s not a spoof. RE Ms Marvels as a central character. Disney need to fund these films. Some fans need to accept Disney is not going to be willing to lose hundreds of millions or cut hundreds of millions off their top line.
  15. Part of Feige’s job needs to be to build up successors and there’s no sign right now which is by definition destabilising for the MCU. Economics simply are if the MCU keeps losing money either they change it up or kill it. RE Conjuring - it’s not a universe imo; it’s traditional spin offs based around the central pillar which is the Conjuring films.
  16. Increasingly struggling to even care about the next two Avengers films. Infinity War/End Game. Am kind of shocked looking at the build up to both series as I thought the build up to Infinity War would have had more films, MCU had 18 films in the build up to Infinity War. Post Endgame there will have been 16 films based on the current slate. I get there’s multiple films still to come but it really doesn’t feel like they will have moved forward at all before the next Avengers. I know it’s slays going to be a multiverse film but we really are just going to get 2.5 hours of the illuminati stuff from MoM aren’t we? *shudders*
  17. Not a big believer "I worked it out" as bad for a murder mystery. Your supposed to be able to. The trick for the film making is to create even a small bit of doubt until the reveal. All that happens when film makers obsess about surprising audiences is they add twists that only use elements introduced late in the story.
  18. Doubt it. There are big issues with her character. How she is written doesn’t engage with a lot of audiences.
  19. This is such a weird one for a spin off. Even Big Finish would have more relevant spin offs! Guess that confirms Sea Devils I’m the Ncuti era.
  20. I think this is true but it’s still good. Knives Out is just another level. I feel like with murder mysteries you have to accept each entry will be up and down in quality. There’s more to be gained viewing each entry individually then comparing them to other entries. That’s my approach anyway.
  21. If your doing Eternals for the D+ audience just make a Tv show. Recast those not willing to do it but most of the Eternals were TV actors with Eternals as their first big break. Even then I simply don’t believe it. If they are doing Eternals 2 we should know more by now.
  22. I suspect there will be rumours about Eternals 2 for…eternity. For some reason with this film a lot of people were not ready to accept an MCU box office failure and have been in denial that the box office could change Marvels plans. Eternals 2 will never release.
  23. Not the most inspired costume…seems extremely similar to Missy from Doctor Who. Probably telling how their approaching the character.
  24. There’s an unfortunate aversion to having female leads with romantic plots. This is because of the perception women were just the romantic elements in male dominated films and nothing more. Of course the problem here is that the male do instead films still have men generally with romantic relationships. It doesn’t need to be a core feature but you do need female characters that represent and can connect with audiences. I don’t want to bang on about The Marvels but it’s the perfect capsule for this. Ms Marvel is supposed to be 16 but she is portrayed as an older pre-teen. No girls are going to connect with that. Compare her to let’s say Wednesday which is a massive hit (especially family audiences who are watching together) and it’s honestly laughably bad what Marvel are doing. Monica as far as I can tell is entirely characterless and seems to just be defined by her job. Hardly illuminating female writing. Captain Marvel I understand has multiple elements of past romances but these are all off screen. Also, and this is hilarious - she’s presented as a cat lady. That’s her only strong relationship. Characters either need to be sexually active or part of their character addresses why this is not the case. Guardians 3 has a romantic storyline all about rejection. But it needs to be addressed. i.e. your characters need to be human and your 16 y/o needs to act like one. For Disney Frozen is a perfect example. You have characters acting their age (coming of age in this case with nativity and strife that goes with it) both with your male and female characters. Good and bad.
