  1. You'd think Disney would be powerful enough to hold some of these reviews back until the embargo lifts... Also why is RT allowing this before the embargo lmao
  2. If the RT score ends up over 70%, then I got SERIOUS questions relating to why Disney decided this late of an embargo lift??
  3. Man, I was not expecting an indie game franchise to be this popular abroad too. This movie is definitely on track to become Blumhouse's #1 grossing movie. Side note: Is this going to out-gross The Marvels too??
  4. The FNAF movie is at $200M already at the global box office. Dang I actually was not expecting such an American IP doing this well abroad, but it's a welcome suprise
  5. Looks like the trades are finally prepping its readers for a very shallow OW for The Marvels. From Deadline: It would not be shocking if we see The Marvels charting one of the lowest openings for a Marvel Studios movie next weekend in November with less than $70M –lower than 2021’s The Eternals ($71.2M)— the movie not only a sequel to 2019’s Captain Marvel but also a crossover from Disney+ series, Ms. Marvel. Presales for Captain Marvel are pacing behind that of Black Adam and The Flash were here (those respective openings at $67M and $55M).
  6. Considering FNAF is (most likely) at the $100M+ domestic mark, I don't think being a "leggy" run really matters at this point. A shallow second-week drop would only really be needed if its opening weekend was much smaller, and while the day-and-date Peacock option probably hurt its box office, I still think its fair to characterize FNAF as a massive success for Universal and maybe its streaming service too lmao Anecdotally, there are a lot of FNAF fans who signed up for Peacock just because it has this movie. I still really hope Universal goes theatrical only for the sequels though....
  7. I've noticed this as well for some locations, and I think theaters are being more conservative with scheduling showtimes until pre-sales prove to be strong. Right now November is a heavy month for big releases, and The Marvels looks extremely saturated with showtimes despite its low sales so far. It makes sense to me that the theater chains are a bit more wary this time around with scheduling, so it'll take longer for IMAX showings to appear.
  8. Ok just wanna say that the possibility of FNAF outgrossing the Marvels in the worldwide box office is just a WILD possibility...
  9. Maybe theaters wanna be conservative with scheduling shows due to its long runtime? I'm also seeing less showtimes in my area than I expected especially for a big-budget blockbuster. Although at least I'm seeing some PLFs reserved for it, which FNAF didn't have on the first pre-sale day, so the exhibitors do have some expectations on how this film should perform in the box office. Another part of me wonders if The Marvels underperforming in pre-sales is making exhibitors more wary about reserving a lot of showtimes for some of these upcoming movies? Idk that's just a theory lol
  10. Not a shock here, but Universal/Blumhouse’s Five Nights at Freddy’s is coming in at $80M over 3-days after a $16M Sunday that was -34% from Saturday’s $24.2M. The fans of this movie were always dead set on seeing it in a cinema, which made it an experiment for Uni by going day-and-date on Peacock so that they could spike paid subs beyond 28M. While the Emma Tammi directed movie is destined to be No. 1 again during the first weekend of November sans Dune: Part Two, all eyes on how much it drops. Many observed that Taylor Swift: Eras Tour was frontloaded, and she posted a -65% decline in weekend 2. That’s about what we’ll see here. At $80M, it’s still the fifth best opening of October behind Joker ($96.2M), Taylor Swift: Eras Tour ($92.8M), Venom: Let There Be Carnage ($90M) and Venom ($80.2M). https://deadline.com/2023/10/box-office-five-nights-at-freddys-1235584788/ Updated numbers just dropped!
  11. Ah is this about FNAF again? Saturday looks a kinda packed in theaters I'm looking at, but idk how normal this is
  12. I think Matthew Lillard mentioned before the strikes that he signed a three-picture deal for FNAF with Universal, so I'm assuming that they have the rights to distribute the future sequels if when they're greenlit. Side note: DAMN hugee turnout for the younger crowd (as expected)
  13. Not to be conspiratorial, but do you think Disney has more faith in this than the Marvels currently? I saw some ads for the Marvels a few weeks ago, but it feels like I'm getting way more promos for Wish right now... It's weird since Wish comes out much later, but it could be my algorithim too lmao
  14. Welp this is quite exciting! I don't think any of the first six games were translated into other languages, so its quite impressive that this extremely American franchise has this much reach, and I'm pretty sure animatronic restaurants are only a thing in America right? I guess international youtubers played a role in spreading FNAF worldwide--excited to see what the final BO is. On another note hopefully it makes $130-150M overseas?
  15. I'm just gonna leave this here if ya'll are wondering what the fan reactions have been in the actual theaters. This coincides with a lot of other stories I've heard about how energetic the cinemas have been with FNAF fans. Critics panned the Emma Tammi directed movie at 25% rotten on Rotten Tomatoes, but those who are going don’t give a sh** how the reviews read. Last night at a very passionate Burbank, CA AMC preview I attended, fans were so over the moon, it reminded me of the time I first saw Twilight with a crazed crowd at what’s now the AMC Grove. Fans were cheering on the YouTube influencer cameos (peeps who are known for playing and theorizing about Five Nights at Freddy’s games) in the film, as well as “oohhh”ing and “aaah”ing at plot twists, and character appearances, and even the fan-made end credits song by music artist The Living Tombstone. If you weren’t dressed up last night, well then you were square.
  16. I'd imagine Deadline already has an article in the pipeline about how FNAF completely overperformed expectations. (which tbf for its genre + negative reviews, it's been massively overperforming!)
  17. Yep this seems pretty aligned with all the stories I've heard. Cinema audiences are going bloody bananas with all the references and easter eggs in the movie even in the UK and Australia (which normally have quite calm fans in theaters), so it's gonna be veryy interesting to see where this is all headed.
  18. Reviews from the UK critics are slowly rolling out and.... Still relatively optimistic about a high OW, but who knows what the second weekend is gonna look like. There are positive reactions about the story, characters, and humor, but the main criticsm seems to be that it ain't scary enough. The FNAF fans seem really happy though (from the few posts and vlogs I've seen), and I wonder if the mild horror is actually gonna be a positive thing for the very young audience that's gonna attend this film.
  19. I think you asked this already? We'll already be seeing reactions on the 25th from the early screenings (UK, Mexico, and Blumhouse fan screenings). There's also an embargo that opens on the 26th but that doesn't apply to everyone.
  20. We'll get some of them on the 25th when it releases in the UK (+ reactions from the Mexican fans if anyone speaks spanish hehe)
  21. Welp let me tell you about the FNAF fandom... (I'm half-joking, but there's definitely hype from middle schoolers and even younger kids lmao)
  22. wait so does this actually happen in irl opening weekends?? or is the thurs-fri BO gap probably gonna narrow closer to release date?
