You are always always so pessimistic. Why?
That's a great weekend prediction.

The Dark Knight was always favored to win the summer of 2008. At least that's how I recall it.
Yeah, the buzz on that was deafening. I remember a bit from the MTV Movie Awards in May '08 where RDJ was trying to impress a nerd in his office, and the guy was like "Iron Man was fine...until The Dark Knight releases."
The opening weekend and first Monday threads were some of my favorites at BOM.

The Little Mermaid also became a phenomenon on home video. It sold over 20 million copies on VHS over the next couple of years.
The soundtrack went 4x platinum in the US too. That was absolutely unheard of at the time. It seems small potatoes compared to what Aladdin and The Lion King would sell, but this movie broke the mold.

Any time you see a word or acronym with a little dashed underline, hover your mouse over it and you'll see a pop-up definition.

I just don't understand why anyone would subject themselves to a Transformers movie.

I hope WW hits $400m. It'll make up for Dory missing $500m last summer.

I need my kings to come in and give us that $15.6m Saturday for WW.

Despicable Me 2 and Minions both had a lot of cross appeal with adults. DM3 also isn't tracking online the same as Minions.
I think the one thing that might work in DM3s favor is little competition.
Literally the same argument was made for Minions.

DM3 advertising is in overdrive right now, can't turn on the TV without seeing those ads.
Underpants and Cars are both underperforming so that opens up a DM3 overperformance.

I can only imagine when Lion King came out:
"89 minutes? lol that's way too short. Pacing's gonna be wonky. Critical failure incoming"
The Lion King was never supposed to be the giant phenomenon it became. Katzenberg considered it a primer for Pocahontas, which was supposed to be the next Beauty and the Beast.

Does EC mean 19m or 19% drop for WW Sunday. That would be even better.
He's being deliciously obtuse. Either would be faaaasbulous!
