  1. Nobody asked him about a sequel, so that would indeed be a silly remark: "Thanks for the Golden Globe, and by the way, we are not making a sequel".
  2. Good point. I found a Golden Globe interview with Spielberg, where he said the following:"I'm hoping, after Peter does Tintin 2, which he's directing after the Hobbit, I'll get a chance to do the 3rd one, if we're successful with the 2nd one"So, yes, a sequel is definitely planned. I'm happy http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgNmNJoU-4I(the sequel is mentioned at 7:05)
  3. It looks like Tintin will end up with approximately $370M worldwide. Will it still be enough to justify a sequel?
  4. I hope you're right. We'll know more about Tintin's performance in Japan after this weekend.
  5. I don't know, I haven't made any predictions. I know Tintin is not The Smurfs, but as a reference that movie made roughly $130M in Tintin's remaining territories (if BOM foreign numbers are accurate and complete). If Tintin is more popular, your $450M may be right. If it is less popular, $350 may be right.
  6. It made $20M last week, which was a 30% drop. Therefore I think it will make about $250M from current markets (Europe, China, some other Asian countries). Do you really believe the remaining OS markets (Japan, Korea, Australia/NZ, South America) will account for $200M?
  7. The only new territory for Tintin this week was China, where it opened with $7.4M. The weekly gross dropped 16% from $33.8M to $28.5M. Without China's $7.4M it would have dropped 37%.
  8. UIP dailies (which include China I believe) jumped from $400K on the 14th to $1.5M and $1.3M on the 15th and the 16th. An educated guess would be that Tintin scored about $1M in China on these 2 days.
  9. Tintin made €732.873 last week in The Netherlands. That's 57% more than the week before. It almost beat Immortals for the weekend's number 1 spot.
  10. Tintin made $33.8M last week and $69.1M the week before. This means a harsh 51% drop even though it opened in some new markets this weekend. This also means that from current markets it will struggle to reach $200M unless it starts to hold better from now on. I don't see how it could make $250-$300M from the remaining markets to make your prediction work. I'd love to be wrong though, and to be honest I have no clue how this will do in Japan, China, Korea, Australia and South America.
  11. What would you consider good in India? Is Tintin popular over there?
  12. I think UIP reports daily UK numbers (the only Paramount Tintin territory?), but correct me if I'm wrong. If so, last weekend was $5.6M, this weekend was $3.5M, which is a 37% drop.Monday last week was $586K, this Monday was $614K, which is a 5% increase (?!).Not sure if we can trust all these UIP numbers though.
