  17. Opening weekend in The Netherlands: €570,561. It was not a great weekend for movies with the final of Euro 2012, but still rather disappointing I think. SM1 opening weekend was almost 3 times as much.
  18. I only see Japan and Germany as remaining major markets, unless it is also released in China.Maybe it will revive in Europe after Euro 2012 is over, but right now it seems to be dropping hard.

DreamWorks Animation’s animals have coaxed an estimated $157m out of film-goers through Paramount Pictures International from 10,957 theatres in 43 territories and proved too strong for the competition for the second weekend in a row. Globally Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted stands at $277.9m. Source claim the production budget came to $145m. It opened tip in all its 15 new territories. The highlight of the overall weekend was a $9.2m Russian hold that propelled the running total to $35m, while France produced $6.2m for $15.9m and Brazil generated $3.9m for 17.5m. Mexico has reached $15m, Argentina $7.5m and South Korea $6.7m. Madagascar 3 opened in the UAE on $1.4m from 55. Still to come are Spain in July, Japan and Italy in August, Australia in September and the UK and Germany in October. In its fifth weekend The Dictator added $4.7m from 2,008 locations in 35 for $76.7m. The comedy opened top in Italy on a soft $942,000 from 350, top in Taiwan on $381,000 from 27 and second in Singapore on $554,500 from 27. [*]Universal Pictures International reported that Snow White And The Huntsman added $31.2m from 6,768 sites in 57 territories as the tally climbed to $124.6m. The action fantasy launched in six led by Russia on $6.1m from 721 for second place. Huntsman arrived top in France on $5.1m from 610 with a solid 27% market share and opened top in Japan on $4.7m from 335 for a terrific 45% share. The top holdover was the UK on $2.1m from 505 for $18.4m after three weekends. American Pie: Reunion stands at $174.1m to overtake the $173.1m lifetime total of Little Fockers. Hanni And Hanni 2has reached $5.3m in German-speaking Europe, whileMoonrise Kingdom is at $2.2m in the UK and Battleshipstands at $235.7m. [*]Fox International’s Prometheus added $25.5m from 8,695 screens in 62 markets to bring the sci-fi’s running total to $128.9m. The film opened second in most of its 12 new territories led by Mexico’s $3.2m from 1,280 and $2.9m from 508 in Brazil. The UK and Russia lead the holdover markets on $30m and $20.3m after three weekends while France and Australia have generated $14.1m and $12.6m after two, respectively. This Means War opened in China on $1.6m, which was enough to push the action comedy over $100m to $101.3m. Best Exotic Marigold Hotel stands at $83.7m and We Bought A Zoo $43.3m. [*]Sony Pictures Releasing International reported that MIB 3 added $19.7m from 11,415 screens in 79 markets in the fourth weekend to boost the running total to $391.6m. Russia is the lead market on $38.1m but the highlights of the weekend came from Japan (through Toho Towa) on $2.5m from 974 for $32.3m and the UK, where a further $2.45m from 806 raised the total to $28.2m. Both ranked second. Germany generated $21.3m after a $1.6m number one hold, while France in fourth place has produced $16.2m and Australia $15.7m. South Korea has produced $23.1m. Adam Sandler comedy That’s My Boy opened day-and-date with North America in Australia in second place on $1.4m from 223. [*]New Line’s musical Rock Of Ages launched through Warner Bros Pictures International day-and-date with North America, grossing $4.1m from 1,850 screens in ten markets led by the UK on $1.64m from 471 sites to rank third. Australia opened third on $1.4m from 301.Dark Shadows generated $2.7m from more than 2,900 screens in 50 markets to reach $135m. [*]Marvel Studios’ The Avengers has become the first film in history to cross $200m in Latin America. Overall the superhero romp added $3.9m through Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International to reach $833.1m. Combined with the $586.7m North American haul the film has amassed $1.419.8bn worldwide. [*]StudioCanal opened Fast Girls in the UK on $587,000.
