I'm looking at the releases for the weekend before July 4, 2012 and there's only Magic Mike and GI Joe.Isn't this weekend traditionally filled with big-budgeted blockbuster movies? It's odd. Will Smith's (king of 4th of July) movie is in May. The new Spider-man is 2 days after. Ice Age (always the token 4th of July kiddie movie) is two weekends after. Why did studios avoid such a traditionally lucrative weekend?

I went to see this mainly for Daniel Radcliffe. The first jump scare was fine, but they abused it. This is your cookie-cutter horror movie disguised in period attire.
3/10
And am I missing something? Why are people saying SH2 is bad while MI4 is good when the former outgrossed the latter? :-SAnd what is this "large screen" format only for MI4?
So last year the Oscar-bait movies were a great hit to movie-goers as they not only produced quality films, but they were also able to cross mainstream audiences. What happened this year? I don't see movies like "The Artist" or "The Descendants" etc. getting watercool talk.
Which movie will take it? It should be Potter because it's got a collection of British thespians and they've managed to keep working for the past 8 years. That alone should be a recognition right there.
