Any chance TD overtakes BS in the dailies and beats it this weekend?
-
I always felt the LOTR movies should be viewed as a whole, and the trilogy is one of the highest regarded of all time (right next to the OT)...ROTK is an excellent movie, and rewarded (critically and financially) because of how great the 3 movies are as a whole.I have yet to come across someone who says RoTK is one of their favorite films. And I have spoken to A LOT of people about movies.

Are they announcing an XMen vs. Avengers movie with Peter Parker making a guest appearance?
-
Most of the Harry Potter films. Can't go wrong there.

That is just soooo bad! That has to be worse than even their worst case scenario.Official domestic weekend estimate: $25.3 million for BATTLESHIP from 3,690 locations. Location avg. = $6,870.

Maybe a $55m weekend estimate now?Exhibitor Relations @ERCboxoffice
With $457M, THE AVENGERS is officially Disney's highest grossing domestic hit keelhauling PotC: DEAD MAN'S CHEST's booty of $423.3M
typo?

Someone should chance the title, many seeing $16-18m for TA will be disappointed when they then see it's actually $15.3m.And that's beyond worst case scenario for BS, jeez.

Oh yeah I was definitely laughing during that whole partYea I know. Not very surprising, but you have to admit, it was funny and true all at the same time.

Yeah I don't know what he's talking about...MIB3, Prometheus, Brave, TASM and TDKR will all do big to huge business. With the start TA gave it, this summer has the potential to be one of the biggest ever.Nope.There are a lot of films coming out that look to do outstanding business.

I don't think you can do it till 7:20 tonight, let alone 7/20 the date.Tell ya what I'm gonna do and it's a challenge even for me: From today's date of, what?? May 17th??? I won't mention Nolan's name or TDKR in any thread or topic of conversation until July 20th.. Deal??? You think I can do it???

Woah, a little hostile there man. Yes, we all predicted $6-7m, but Rth checked #'s and confirmed it'll be within 6-7, not just guessed based on normal drops, etc. If we predict a 140% increase on Friday and Rth confirms is late that night, it doesn't mean he's not checking the figures, etc. Anyway, let's not piss off our best sourceYou're an insider, and because of that your range has always been very precise. 6-7 mill is just following a normal pattern of drops on Wednesday. If you were paying attention, you'd have a better range. I could have told you it would be between 6-7. That's a drop of 18-30%...quite the range.

Yeah that score doesn't really make sense...anyone who saw this on opening day knew what they were getting into and all crowd reports have been postive with tons of laughing so that C seems low for an opening day poll.C Cinemascore? REALLY?
-
Do you think that's realistic?I want minimum $1 billion OS to happen for TA.

While my grade is higher (A-) I do understand where you're coming from. I've seen it twice, and while it's the perfect summer action popcorn blockbuster, it does lack the substance of some of the other best in the genre. I def rank TA in my top 10 sh/comic book movies, but atm somewhere around 6-10 after TDK, SM2, BB, IM1, and V for Vendetta...it's battling with B89 and SM1 currently.Rather disappointed by this after hearing the enormous praise. It has its moments but on the whole this is really just another brainless popcorn flick. The script was high on cheese and low on wit, which is understandable for a superhero movie but to hear the comparisons to TDK is really bizarre to me. This is a decent flick but it doesn't deserve half the money it's making. I can name half a dozen superhero movies that are far superior. I will give it points for character development, though, which is refreshing for this type of movie. The visuals are also stunning.B
