This is a hard one to talk about because there obviously are a lot of bad-faith grifters(especially on youtube, I call them 'the beirdos') seizing on the 'stalker' comments(among some other recent things she said about the original movie) and blowing it way out of proportion(like they do for everything) for hate-clicks/ad revenues, but I do think it kinda speaks to a trend in very recent years that's starting to get under more people's skin where popular classic stories that people have grown up with and loved for decades are now deemed 'problematic' or no good because they no longer perfectly align with post-2015 academia/social norms.
I haven't seen Snow White since I was like 8 years old(I'm 33 now) so I don't remember everything about it, but there was a certain Amazon show recently where the producers and some of the cast were constantly throwing indirect shade at the source material in every other interview, sometimes even in an arrogant condescending tone. I understand this is probably one of the more extreme examples, but I don't think you need to be a MAGA chud or youtube grifter to roll your eyes at some of the comments coming out of Hollywood or the page 1 rewrites they do(some of which are starting to feel like cliched tropes) regarding older classic stories and slapping the original's name on top of it.
I don't know, sometimes I think the world has gone full stupid and people are just making up controversies to bitch about online when none are really there(and if there are, usually blown way out of proportion for that person's target audience).

Studio casts "progressive" to get sympathy votes for creatively bankrupt product knowing very well there will be backlash on one side and defense on the other side
Right on cue, some usual suspects seethe, other usual suspects start to defend the turd and root for its boxoffice even though it's still a steaming turd
It would be funny how often this happens now if it wasn't so tiresome, and its not limited to these Disney remakes or even movies.

Napoleon's life is so absolutely filled to the brim with incident and memorable episodes, that it is impossible to portray the full scope of his life in a 2 or 3 hour movie. They should focus instead on a particular time or campaign. But this seems to be all over the place. From Toulon to Borodino, and possibly even beyond that. It seems to me that is a far too large a scope for a single film
That Empire piece says Scott has a 4.5 hour cut of the movie he wants Apple to eventually screen. They probably will at some point, no studio is going to put a 4.5 hour film in theaters.

Lol seriously, who the fuck still goes to a movie theater today based on its star promoting it on talk shows, etc? This isn't the 90s. Do they really think Zendaya fans aren't gonna show up to the movie because she won't be on Colbert, Fallon, or instagram posts?
Just release it on schedule you bozos, no1currs.

For a historical perspective, let's be honest that bomb did not need to be dropped.
Maybe, but its a classic case of 'fuck around and find out'
(starting a war with a huge surprise military attack on American soil)

D-Day.
I believe a certain Steven Spielberg movie showed that better than anyone could've imagined and is still the definitive war movie.

Without getting into it too deeply, there's basically nothing wrong with the film by itself but the people who made it are either very heavy conspiracy theorists or at the very least, heavy handed politicos.
This is pretty much what I suspected. Nothing necessarily problematic with the film itself but due to some of the views a few of the creatives hold there are a lot of people projecting their personal views/biases onto the film whether its loony Q chuds or that terminally online outrage machine that thinks everything they don't like is problematic/far right propaganda/violence/conspiracy theory/etc because welcome to 2023 Murica discourse.

Love how Oppenheimer, a film about a communist sympathiser expressing grave concern at the US military machine, escapes the woke accusations.
I think its a combination of Oppenheimer not ticking enough boxes to be on that crowd's radar and just being a historical drama with casting reflective of the time period(1940s America was overwhelmingly white, 89.8%).
The Last Duel is another one from a few years back that somehow managed to avoid getting a bunch of 'lol go woke go broke' youtube videos hurled at it despite being a mega-bomb and that movie absolutely lampoons systemic patriarchy and misogyny(though not in a cheesy or stupid way).
These youtube guys seem to be more interested in established franchise IP's they perceive as 'going woke' or big flashy movies aimed at everyone they deem as 'woke' or 'problematic' which I think Barbie certainly fits the bill for them.

The number of people who died during world war 2 in the Soviet Union gets me every time. That’s just staggeringIt really is an apocalyptic figure for a single country, to put that 25 million into perspective, that's 4 million more than the current modern day population of the entire state of Florida. I guess thats the price they paid for being the only country in Europe to successfully resist a full-on land and air attack by Nazi Germany. Also, 80% of the German army was destroyed on the eastern front....the eastern front of WW2 was probably the most brutal fighting in human history.

1. Oppenheimer
2. Interstellar
3. The Dark Knight
^These are his only films I like quite a lot. The rest of his filmography isn't bad(other than Tenet, TDKR, & Dunkirk imo) they just don't do much for me. Even though I didn't find Oppenheimer perfect, I was very delighted with it. You gotta respect a man who makes a 3 hour talky drama far more exciting and lasting than all these 300m+ VFX theme park rides like The Flash, Indiana Jones, or Avatar 2.

This just looks like the next bland late-stage factory film making from Disney/Marvel.
Now I can't for all the insufferable discourse from weirdos pretending this is some kind of groundbreaking 'important' movie along with the bearded ragetube grifters ranting about 'feminist propaganda'

Tired of people and their crappy takes on why Oppenheimer should have been another type of movie. Of course Altman is not stupid here - he hasn’t missed the message, he just doesn’t like it (and the implications for the AI sector)
The accessible PG-13 "Yeah science!" movie already exists, its called The Martian.
This is very much a historical drama.

Honestly always though indiana would bomb cause an action blockbuster with someone 80 years old as the lead is the worst idea ever on Hollywood history.
Never saw MI doing this low, I thought as almost everyone about that TG2 effect so even bigger than the usually.
Indiana Jones just looked like some more unspectacular formulaic factory film making from Disney, same with The Flash/WB. The fact that those two movies bombed and Barbie/Oppenheimer are over-performing is excellent for the business. Now hopefully Napoleon/Killers of the Flower Moon do really well.

Lmao there is currently a large mechanized land war on this continent involving the biggest nuclear power that only seems to be heading down a path of indefinite escalation and most of it is more interested in the silly doll movie over the very relevant, timely, and excellent Oppenheimer, including the two countries at war. God help us all.

Is this gonna be another one of those Star Wars shows with a short number of episodes with really short runtimes which makes the whole thing feel really off where its too long to be a movie but too short to be a series?
