Has anybody actually seen the film or is it just me?
I'm baffled that they actually decided to release this.
I saw it. My sister liked it. I found some stuff in the movie logic baffling and some of the fight scenes were filmed very amateurish and a lot of the dialogue was awful or I couldn’t even hear it but overall it wasn’t the worst super hero movie I’ve seen.

Wakanda Forever was not hated.

I think we're headed back to what super hero movies did during the 2000's. When a 50m ow was a success and 90m was bonkers. We might get a few more real huge openings: deadpool3, secret wars if a certain 2 actors return for it , joker 2 might even be a dark horse and maybe the first x-men reboot if they pull it off but the days of super hero movies dominating are behind us.

Love her. Maybe she’ll only get relegated to supporting status in the avengers films like falcon or Bucky as opposed to
never seen again Eternals status.

The overseas reception is pretty bad so far. The RT score doesn't change that fact. The RT score won't change anything one way or the other because it isn't high enough nor is it low enough.
You could say that the RT score is in fact….mid.

Exactly this.
I thought it was going to get torn apart by critics but overall, it's been mixed but leaning positive.
Anyways, it's too late now. Disney are going to feel the affects of their own decisions.
critics did tear it apart. It’s the bloggers praising it.all critics 60%
Top critics 43%
verified audience 85%….worrying that this number isn’t higher this early.

So other than GOTG 3, what post-Endgame marvel films are NOT " mutilated, chopped up, clunky mess."?
Wakanda Forever. Shang Chi. Eternals for all it’s flaws was not butchered in the editing room.

updating just now, my records say The Marvel is 59.66%, with 119 critics. exactly 1 fresh tomato away from hitting exactly 60.00%. I don't know if there are some hidden reviews or something. I've definitely got all the ones that display. but RT says they have 131 reviews in.

On the bright side, after two rotten mcu movies in one year, those people that have been whining about how Disney “pays off” the critics with MCU for a decade can finally shut up.
Inflation got too high, Disney needs to cut bigger checks 🌚

I don't understand how people get hyped for post-credit scenes any more. When was the last good post credit scene? When was the last time we got payoff on a post credit scene?
The Loki scene at the end of Quantamania

No need to be bitter at a movie getting a Fresh. All indications that this isn't horrible. If it is entertaining, most critics will let it slide. Fresh will help it do a little better at least this weekend.
That top critics score is abysmal though and shows that its the bloggers bringing up the score.

Monica: "Auntie Carol, what are you doing in my bedroom?" (yes, Monica still calls her "Auntie Carol").
Monica then gets stuck in the washing machine

True. They should have thought twice about making a whole ass team where There isn't a single pairing that wouldn't give audiences the ick. Stucky and Stony carried the fandom. with 62k and 41k fanfics respectively on Ao3. But are people gonna ship Carol/Kamala or Carol/Monica or Monica/Kamala. No shot, it's not happening. I don't care that Elsanna is the most popular frozen ship, it's not the same audience.
I thought it was a missed opportunity not to make Carol gay since it seemed like she had a thing going on with Maria in that first movie.

I can't speak on The Marvels because I haven't seen it but Eternals was not pretty good to me. It was at best aggressively mediocre.
I actually liked Eternals and will defend the movie's musical score to the death.

I would say IGN is confirmed to be shills but we all knew that already, right?

It's not going to be adult dramas which is what I've been saying for years. Barbie and Oppenheimer were flukes.

To have her powers sucked out by Rogue? You know, people always say this, but how would that even work in these movies? In the comics, Ms. Marvel/Carol Danvers just had flight, strength and invulnerability but now in the movies she has these super saiyan powers and I don't think I'd like to see Rogue looking like Sonic the Hedgehog with the chaos emeralds.

Settling in the 50s would mean all 2 female solo directors in the MCU had their average critic score devastated by working with the Marvel Studios
Black Widow was directed by a woman as well as those 2 movies and it somehow got a certified fresh. It's also Cate Shortland's 3rd highest score on Rotten Tomatoes.

How many careers will be destroyed because the fallout from this disaster?
We should know this time next year if Brie Larson is sticking around since they'll be either going into or already in production on Kang Dynasty.

Mixed WOM it seems, typical marvel fans will love this, but they are less and less every week, GA seems apathic on this one.
110m DOM incoming.
I don't see how it gets to 100m domestic if it opens to 40m.

It's like when a TV show does a musical episode as a gag, but isn't really taking it seriously. Just, haha look the characters who would never sing are singing.
It worked on Buffy. They made it drive the character's arcs in the season. The episode is essential to that season. And the songs are true to the characters and reveal truths that the characters had been hiding from each other. Other shows just have actors sing top 40 radio.

The Marvels (2023)
in Review That Movie! (Spoilers Allowed)
Posted · Edited by eddyxx
So when the movie started I was asking myself how were the kree breathing on that moon like planet but i hand waved it off but then they burst through the glass on that ship thing and monica and then carol both flew through the open window but Kamala was still there breathing and I thought maybe I'm wrong, maybe theres something I missed and then they showed Carol fly back into the ship through basically a open window from space and Kamala was still there somehow breathing. They weren't on a planet right, that was a ship, yes? Somebody make it make sense please.
