Apparently a huge winter storm will come over a big part of the USA and Canada in the upcoming days and weekend and this could hurt the box office. 😒 -

There was a lot of talk about the weather being bad on opening weekend so who knows maybe a lot of people didn't see it yet... Also I know that I wouldn't watch Avatar 2 in a sold-out crowd with the new context of respiratory viruses so maybe many people (like me) would watch it in subsequent weeks when crowds are little smaller... -

Rolling Stone gave the movie a rave review but their review was immediately taken down. lol I don't know what Sony's goal is with the embargo but so far everything seems positive, including from people on social media who saw early screenings. I guess the embargo will be lifted tomorrow and we will find out what impact it does.

It’s just a prediction. So far everywhere else I have seen they have put the Whitney movie over Babylon. I guess we will find out soon. But to me, the most sad is Babylon because it has a 110 million budget, and they have spent a lot on P&A too. The Whitney movie I’m sure is nowhere near those budgets so it could still end up being profitable. -

Hi, do you please have the stats for "I Wanna Dance with Somebody"? Thanks -
Yeah I'm hoping at last 15+ million opening. 20+million in the 4-day. With a debut like that I feel that it will have a solid total due to the holidays period! It's hard to predict, personally I have seen tons of TV Spots for Puss in Boots 2 and Babylon, and nothing yet for I Wanna Dance. Kind of disappointing. However whatever happens for sure it doesn't need a load of box office to be profitable. For example the latest word is that Babylon cost 110 million in production, and I don't know how much more with P&A, so at the end of the day I feel more pressure is on that film to open big. I'm glad that Sony are promoting Thursday too because that's an extra day and most theaters already are playing it, why not. Maybe they are doing it because it's the week of Christmas and it could make a bigger impact compared to no need to do it in other regular Thursdays... Let's not forget that the initial release date was 21st december instead of the 23rd, and that's what most of the trailers still show, so this could be another reason. The embargo on reviews will be lifted this Wednesday and I expect them to be super positive, I feel that their strategy is to create hype and positive word at the last minute making the movie trend on social media!

Any projections for Puss in boots 2, I Wanna Dance with Somebody and Babylon, outside of boxofficepro? -

Is there a way to know in addition to production budget, how much budget was also spent for each movie in P&A? (publicity & advertisement). Because that's an important data when judging whether a movie is a hit/profitable or not... Thanks -

I have not seen a TV spot yet However I have seen hundreds of TV spots for Avatar, about 10 for Puss in Boots and about 4 for Babylon. It's disappointing... For sure Sony is keeping the marketing budget low compared to those other movies, and I'm sure the production budget is lower too, so I guess it will need less box office to be profitable. Hopefully it will still have a good debut and good legs. -

Cool thanks... I guess that's a good update for I Wanna Dance? Maybe they are starting to do more promo and people are starting to find out more about the movie... -

Hi, are you able to also compare I Wanna Dance with The Woman King as they are both Sony releases and featuring a black woman in the lead? Or is the data for TWK not available or maybe it's too much added work? Thanks for all your posts they are appreciated! -

It seems that there's a very last minute title change, it is now called: "The Whitney Houston Movie: I Wanna Dance With Somebody". -

Thanks, so basically when I read this: I Wanna Dance T-13 comps - Elvis - .345x (1.11m) Does it mean that I Wanna Dance is heading right now towards 1.11m Previews which is .345x of the Elvis previews when that movie was also 13 days prior to release? And is this based only on the chart that includes previews sales from Jax, Phx, Ral, and not the whole USA? Thanks
