  1. Here are the 2011 movies I've seen so far in theaters, in order of release (not necessarly in the order that I've seen them). I'm pretty sure I also saw Jack and Jill sometime at the beginning of december. All these movies are not necessarly movies that I was looking forward to seeing, but rather deciding to go out with a friend(s) and picking what current movie could be interesting. As you can see, I won't be stopping watching movies in theaters any time soon. To me it will always be different from watching a movie at home, it's basically a night out, a reason to GET OUT OF HOME. lol My favorite movie for the year is by far Rise of the Planet of the Apes which I saw twice in theaters. Definitely the movie of the year in my eyes. My least favorite was Drive, it was too slow/boring and also more violent/graphic than the trailer suggested. Anyways all this to say that I won't be stopping going to theaters anytime soon!
  2. I don't see this movie doing well, it looks boring and pointless IMO... but we'll see...
  3. Oh ok thanks! I thought u guys were talking about the Tourist since it didn't do as well as expected in the USA, but I'm like "look at the overseas numbers!" lolOk well I don't know much about the movie but I went to make a search and it debuted on friday in only 3 theaters, and even though its average per theater is not good at all, I don't think it's a movie that can be considered a bomb since it's almost as if they didn't plan to release it in theaters at least not seriously. Unless I'm missing something... She can't even be seen in the movie so frankly not many people know about it anyways, I certainly didn't.
  4. What the heck is the "Jolie" movie, are we talking about Angelina Jolie? And if yes, her last movie was the Tourist, How did that bomb, it did 278 million worldwide. I'm sure you are talking about something else. lol
  5. Here in Montreal I'm lucky because I usually go on tuesdays which it costs 5.50$ (Guzzo) or 5.99 (Cineplex) for normal movies (at night) and maybe 8.50$ for 3D if I remember correctly. As for Guzzo cinemas which I have tons around me, with a membership card that you buy once for 5$ and lasts a lifetime, it allows wednesdays to also be like tuesday with the 5.50$ costs. So basically I always go on tuesday/wednesday nights and it never costs me more than 5.99. And these days I usually go on wednesdays because it's less crowded than tuesdays since tuesdays are "known" to be cheap movie night, while wednesday it's only in Guzzo theaters and if you have the card, which they don't really promote.Of course it has happened that i go to see a movie on a weekend and pay full price, but I rarely do it. And I have to say that if I had to pay full price everytime I would not go as often to the theaters, so I sympathise with those who are not as lucky as me. But on tuesday/wednesday I usually see any movie, even those who I am not too excited about, simply because it doesn't cost much and it's a nice way to spend an evening out. And usually with new movies, I'd rather wait a couple of weeks because it gets less crowded. So I'm not too interested in going out an opening weekend, unless it's a movie that I really am looking forward to such as in my signature.Anyways, just wondering, in the USA you guys have no cheap movie night at all??? Looking at some of the prices I'm seeing, wow this sucks
  6. I don't think going to the theaters will ever fade. It's like "going out" to restaurants instead of ordering food to your home, or going to a bar instead of having a drink at home, or going shopping in malls instead of buying online. It's 2 different things. Compared to music, going to theaters is like going to a concert, as opposed to buying a music cd would be comparable to buying movie dvds/blu rays. So basically by downloading movies or music it would hurt buying dvds & cds, as opposed to going to see live concerts or going to the theaters. That's my opinion.
  7. I just don't understand how from a 10 million friday it's expected to do 30 million or slightly lower. IMO friday will be its lowest day for the weekend. Parents & their kids will go see this movie on saturday and sunday, not friday night. You'll see!
  8. I didn't want to start a new thread, but does anyone know why A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas was released as early as the 4th november, and now that christmas is approaching it lost most of its theaters and is pretty much not a factor? I just don't understand what the strategy was. If it had been released sometime in december closer to christmas I'm sure it would have had a bigger gross.
  9. Next year it will also be about the Sparkle remake and Whitney Houston's return to the big screen after 16 years. The woman in 1996 became the 2nd highest paid actress of all-time when she got paid 10 million (I believe at that time Demi Moore was first with 12 million), and her 3 motion pictures as a lead actress (The Bodyguard, Waiting to Exhale and The Preacher's Wife) have grossed on AVERAGE 146 million adjusted per movie domestically. She also did the tv movie Cinderella which broke tv ratings. She was scheduled to star next with Will Smith in Anything For You but unfortunately her personal life thanks to her loser husband became a mess. But today she's looking as stunning and healthy as ever, and I'm so happy that she's picking up her movie career in good fashion. She also produced through her production company Brownhouse The Princess Diaries 1 & 2, both major hits for Disney. Anyways, I don't expect Sparkle (which she's also executive producing) to be as big as her movies in the 90's, but with its small budget probably around 15 million, it will definitely be one of Sony's most profitable movies of 2012. And after Sparkle she's scheduled to do another movie Getting to Happy which is the sequel to Waiting to Exhale, which will probably be released sometime in 2013. That should be an even bigger hit. Of course there's also the soundtracks! Anyways if you haven't noticed I'm excited. But I'll try to control myself and wait to start a Sparkle thread until the trailer is released.
  10. Guys the 2 new movies that are out right now suck. Point blank. To me, New Year's Eve looked like some pointless movie where they threw random stars together and labelled it "new year's eve" in hope to cash in for the holidays. I just don't even see what the story is, the whole movie trailer looks like they are just showing us star after star for no reason. They failed big time as the public isn't stupid. As for The Sitter, it looks dumb and rude.
