TFA is losing some of it's IMAX to Revenant this w/e which I expect contributed to see it one last time for some on Thur and which will also slightly impact the w/e #s
True, it's losing 312 theaters per Mojo, but keep in mind that Avatar lost 137 theaters on this same weekend. It will sting a bit and bring down the average ticket price, but I'm feeling there is still enough demand to make up for it. Personally, I feel we haven't seen all the tricks up TFA's sleeve yet.
-
If TFA is around 3.1M, this could be the start of it's late legs. Think of this. Avatar decreased about 8% on Thursday from it's Monday number. If this holds, TFA would have stayed flat from Monday. I'm hoping for further signs of this showing up in today's bump. Predictions:
Fri - 7.2m (+132%)
Sat - 12m (+67%)
Sun - 10.2m (-15%)
Mon - 7.8m (-24%)
3 day - 29.4m
4 day - 37.2m
-
So, we could use an idea for Friday's number. In the spirit of Star Wars...."Help us @Rth Kenobi!!! You're our only hope"

35M would make sense from matinees + presales. If the EC and WC get cranking it could easily do 20-25M more. Plus, keep in mind all week estimates (even RTH's) have gone up when given earlier because TFA seems to really get steamrolling in the evening shows. I'm still betting on 53-58M for today.

Lol popcorn films that carbon copy greatness will never match the feats of titanic or avatar. Lol. With all the hype, sws failed to beat jps os opening. Epic fail. Needed that domestic and more territories and running at more times to even squeeze by jps ww opening record .Best look at the whole picture. Lol. Avatar and titanic hold ww.
Meltdowns are going to be epic when Avatar 2 takes the domestic and ww maxes even further in 2017. Can carry 2 beat force awakens by 1.5 to 2b plus overall is going to be the question. Love it
Can dream even keep the momentum after force awakens. Lol. Better wakeup my crazy Jedi's.

Wow, just wow
"LOS ANGELES - December 23, 2015 - "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is powering up for a second historic weekend at the top of Fandango's Fanticipation movie buzz indicator with a rare 100 out of 100 points. The top Fanticipation ranking has only appeared four times previously since Fandango started ranking films in 2013, and has never appeared in back-to-back weeks for the same movie.
Christmas Day 2015 also promises to be a day for the record books, as Friday's sales are on track to far outpace sales for previous Christmas Days at the same point in the Fandango sales cycle. Fandango's previous best-selling Christmas was in 2012, when "Les Miserables, "Django Unchained" and other hits were released."

36M was TF2s first friday. The biggest 2nd friday is Catching Fire's 31.6M
Wow, I just caught that. You know this has an outside shot to get top 5 all time adjusted for inflation. I would personally love if it did the incomprehendable and made it to #3 adjusted!
1. GWTW
2. Star Wars
3. Star Wars - The Force Awakens
-
To put this into perspective:
TFA's first Monday is:
1. Larger than the biggest 2nd Friday ever (TF2 - 36M)
2. Only 2 million less than Avengers 2nd Sat (the current non-opening week Sat record)
3. Is only 4M less than the first Mondays of both The Avengers and JW combined (the last two OW champs)

I'm just speechless. Is it possible that this could turn out to be a Titanic or Avataresque leggy run. I mean...it can't coming off an almost 250M OW.....can it?? What if (I'm not even going to imagine this yet)...it gets a 6x multiplier? 1.5 bil and it won't need international legs like Avatar to be the WW king....
