Hello! (Goes back to the five pages that have probably sprouted since this was posted, I read it, and responded.) Edit: Damn, I was hoping for an RTH update. No update, so one page between this post and my last one, lol.

If I may be allowed, I'd just like to say that this weekend -- this weekend specifically and the idea of this kind of weekend in general, is why I made a donation to keep these forums going months ago. I've been (mostly) a lurker since the Mojo days, and rarely post, but honestly? I need to be able to come here on weekends like this and just dive into the drama and insanity. I think the last time I posted was for American Sniper's opening weekend -- when it's really going down, I need a home, lol. Thanks, all, for what I know will be a deeply entertaining weekend!!! (For the record, I saw AoU last night. Loved it. Hoping for the higher end predictions but waiting for the real numbers -- RTH? -- to reveal themselves. And, no SW trailer! )

I regret that I have but one like to give for this comment.

Holy hell! I saw Friday's AS number on another forum and came running here, and now the Saturday number! This might be the biggest out-of-nowhere surprise I've experienced in my time following box office. Most surprises are an order of magnitude (like Avengers breaking $200 million), not a complete, total shock. I gave this weekend's box office almost no thought at all. WOW. (On a separate note, damn, poor Thor, lol.)

YEAH! Let's go, $100 million!! (Lol, though, I'd love to have that .857 million for the nice, round $300 million number).

Yikes! But, it isn't surprising. This was a Halloween/October/Fall movie anyway, even before it got Avenger'd. And fans of the original show seemed ambivalent about it at best, while there wasn't a real guarantee that the general public, who doesn't even know there was a show, was ever much definite to be interested (beyond the Burton/Depp fan set). I haven't seen it, and don't know how it is, but I think it was mishandled in terms of release and maybe marketing. Too bad.

Thanks! That's the plan! I was reading along and desparately trying to keep up, LOL. And now, since my first post, I did some work and left the office and DHD's caused a whole new thread. Better go see what's up (though I expect that, like last weekend, anything discussed now will bear little resemblance to the end-of-weekend reality)!

Hello there! :newhere:I'm a looooong-time lurker of the Mojo forums who found her way over here, and had such a good time trying to keep up with the MASSIVE thread and all the box office history that happened last weekend, I thought I'd finally register and get in before whatever happens this weekend, happens, LOL.Saw TA last weekend and plan to see it again, I loved it, and so did my brother that went with me. Even my mother wants to see it! I do think it'll get to $100 million this weekend, though said brother (who also is a box office follower) is a bit skeptical just because the number is so crazy to even contemplate. But I guess after a $207 million 1st weekend (and some of the strong numbers during the weekdays)...anything is possible?!?! :excited:Anyway, just wanted to poke my head in before the madness starts. Let's see what history's still to come!
