Call me insane but I liked this mockumentary.  I kinda think Phoenix did all of this in a way to show how fake so many people are.  Some of it is kind of over the top (the shit scene) but much of it is quite funny.

a brilliant real-life satire not just on the peculiar breakdown of an actor but also the ruthless and despicable way his audience roots for his complete emotional breakdown. it doesn't matter that the whole thing was a charade; his intended target fell for it hook, line and sinker.
