We missed this intelligent comedy in theaters but got in on BD; it's remarkable in the way it puts an amnesiac into the center of action without losing either focus nor neglecting the heavy strains put on a family by having to deal with such a member. As usual with this kind of movies, it all depends on the actors, and there's no weak link here. Frank Langella and Susan Sarandon carry every scene with ease, be it funny or tragic. Supporting roles were also good, even Liv Tyler of whom I didn't expect much. The weakest part were the cardboard yuppie neighbours but they were not that important except as motivation to further the plot.A nice thing about this movie is how, with weaselly Frank, you can never be too sure from scene to scene if he's here, there or just faking the one or the other. That, and the nice acting, make this a touching and lovable comedy - recommended!

A wonderful surprise, excellent performaces from everyone involved and the friendship between the robot and frank is more real than most friendships around. Amazing portrayal of the elderlys without being too depressive or happy-fake, just real.A- (90)
