Hernan Gonzalez
Great result for wild tales, but looking at that chart, I'm surprised by how dominant Hollywood films seem to be in Argentina. Do you have a yearly proportion of foreign to local films in either gross or admissions? Hollywood rules this market. But local movies are doing better in recent years.
Rsyu
Hollywood rules this market. But local movies are doing better in recent years. Good to know. Titanic being the most attended movies after all these years is pretty noteworthy. Evidently, the film market hasn't grown all that much since then.

At that time there were no multiplexes, only big theaters and they were all full for many months while they were showing Titanic
Hernan Gonzalez
Top 5 Weekend: 1- Wild Tales (Relatos Salvajes), 127131 admissions, -29%. Cume: 3004762 adm, around $15.8m 2- Dracula, 100541 adm, new, around $0.6m 3- Alexander, 62852 adm, new, around $0.35m 4- Magic in the Moonlight, 50459 adm, new, around $0.3m 5- The Judge, 45029 adm, new, around $0.25m 5 new movies on the Top Ten. But non of them could beat Wild Tales. The local movie became #6 at the All-Time Charts in Admissions (since 1997) Wild Tales is the first argentinean movie ever to do more than $15m and also the first local movie (since 1997) to sell more than 3m tickets!!!

Not a bad opening for Dracula. The Equalizer, The Giver and the animated movie Book of Life open today. Let's see if one of those new releases finally ends the reign of Wild Tales. BTW, Wild Tales opens in Spain tomorrow, let's see how it does taking in account that the movie is produced by the spanish company "El Deseo" owned by Pedro Almodovar.

The exchange rate is just the final nail. A slight decrease isn't so bad though, and if they increase the quality and the movie-goer's interest in their local productions, it could act as a catalyst for future box office growth as well, much as in the way wild tales is doing now.

You are right! If we compare 2014 to 2010 (Year when the last World Cup took place) we see a 14% increase this year 2014 is also doing slightly better than 2011

Annabelle opens on Thursday and it should easily win next weekend, ending Wild Tales reign. But the local thriller's run is not over yet. It still could reach 3.3m admissions.
