Fullbuster
Admission numbers are good for a developing country with 40m inhabitants. What is the size of this market in dollars? What was the progression over the years?
Hernan Gonzalez
Admission numbers are good for a developing country with 40m inhabitants. What is the size of this market in dollars? What was the progression over the years? It is very hard to do it in american dollar cause the exchange rate changes a lot in that market. For example: 01/01/13: US $1 = 4.87598 Argentine Peso 31/12/13: US $1 = 6.48708 Argentine Peso Today: US $1 = 8.01494 Argentine Peso 2013 was a record year taking in account tickets sold: 46.942.800 (in 2012: 46.391.028 tickets sold)

Hernan Gonzalez
$11m for Frozen is quite great, even if I don't know how the exchange rate alters the result. Good start for Lego I guess Actually exchange rate is worst than last year but not that bad. Avatar did $13.5 M. so Frozen´s $11 M are quite good and $13 M are not out of the picture. Let's see how the sing-a-long version does this weekend. Frozen is already Disney Animation Studio's biggest release in Argentina Lego did Ok for a February release. Let's see how it holds this weekend.
Hernan Gonzalez
Argentina: a little bit better than last weekend Robocop opens on Top slightly better than Lego last weekend with 132731 tickets sold, around $0.75 M. Lego fell 45% to number 2 with 65362 tickets sold (around $0.35 M). Frozen on third with 48915 tickets sold (12006 coming from 86 showtimes a day of the Sing-A-Long version). August 48300 tickets sold $0.25 M. and the local movie The Mystery of Happiness on fifth with 36497 tickets sold ($0.20 M) Chile: The numbers I posted were not complete. It was not such a bad weekend. I corrected them now Now I know I have to wait a little bit more for the complete results. Robocop won the weekend with $0.35 M (66312 tickets sold). Lego dropped 40% to a $0.30 M weekend (58536 tickets sold). Frozen dropped only 27% with the help of the Sing-A-Long release (34130 tickets sold, 3284 coming from the Sing-A-Long version) The rest of the Top Five: A local new release, Mamma, I am a grown up, sold 25813 tickets and 12 Years a Slave, 14908 admissions, only 14% drop. Monday is included in those totals. Robocop also ruled the rest of the small markets of the southern part of South America: Paraguay, Bolivia and Uruguay. And it did pretty well in Peru with 102052 tickets sold. Edited February 18, 2014 by HenryBcn

Hernan Gonzalez
If we take the population into account we can say the Chilean number is impressive. But you should also take in account that in January a lot of tourists go to Chile on holidays. Actually this January around 446000 people went there (almost half of it coming from Argentina). That's not a lot compared with the total population but when people are on holidays they like to take the kids to the movies and do a lot of things with them, not just go to the beach. Can I ask you a question? Do you know how can I change the thread title? I see people are changing it all the time according to what's new in the country's thread.
