ITALY (Botteghino): 'Kung Fu Panda 4' becomes biggest 2024 film

Recommended Posts

The Jungle Book opens at #1 with 3,00M€ and 495K tickets sold. This is significantly lower than Cinderella in 2015 (5,12M€ OW - 15M€ tot) and Maleficent in 2014 (4,89M$ OW including 0,68M€ preview - 14,5M€ tot). However Cindy and Mal had higher pre-opening buzz due to "extra factors" like Frozen Fever ahead of Cindy and Angelina Jolie playing Mal, and the fact that these two princess movies are  more loved than Jungle Book here.
The Huntsman's Winter War fell in third with a mere 0,66M€ (- 50% - 2,65M€ total). BvS passes 10M€ and will end near 10,5M€, lower than expected.

The Jungle Book repeats at number one in a extended but not exciting weekend at the boxoffice (mon 25 apr is holiday here) Total by monday is  € 7.409.389 and 1.163.207 adm that is sufficient to break the top ten of 2016. Nothing of interesting for the other releases: Huntsman'S WW stays at 3,4M€ and will end under 4M despite the strong marketing. A certified flop. Zootopia ends its run at 11,2M€, far away from recent animated blockbusters but no so bad for a movie that has interested more the adults than the little ones, and better than KFP3 (€ 8.24M).

Home video market: in 2015 the sales regains the sign + after years of big drop, both for diglital (isn't a news) and in phisical (this is a news). This confirms the good results of 2014 that ended almost on pair with 2013. In those two years we have had a lot of successful releases, but one of these got unreal (for these years and this market) numbers, obviously there is no need to say which movie it is.

Third weekend in a row at #1 for The Jungle Book: € 1.527.338 (- 43%) / € 9.241.233 (1,5M adm). 2nd spot for The Dressmaker 0,7M$. All the other movies  are under 500K. The Huntsman's WW is out of top ten and will close around 3,5M$, less than an half of Snow White.

On par with Age of Ultron. Good. Is the table all Wed releases?

Avengers 1 had tuesday preview included. Civil war audience seems to be more like Avengers/Iron man than the other Cap movies, even if, in my opinion, TWS is the only good thing in MCU.

Civil war repeats at #1 with € 2.300.359 - 60% (Tot 9.455.913). It was surprisingly strong in weekdays but not exciting in Sat-Sun.

2,159,394 € in 5 days with 304,141 tickets sold: X-Men: Apocalypse is #1 after the long weekend, but did not replicate what was done in 2014 from Days of Future Past. In that case, in fact, Singer went with 2,342,725 euro in 4 days and 322,016 tickets sold. It did worse even Deadpool, who in mid-February was able to collect € 2,961,254 in four days with 418,774 tickets sold. It was obviously reasonable to expect more from Fox mutants.
in third Captain America: Civil War, came to € 10,590,182 Total. The last Marvel/Disney release has exceeded the 10,532,359 Euros of Batman v Superman and the 10,282,231 euro of The Jungle Book, now chasing the 11,266,314 euro of Zootropolis. Next week Alice 2 arrives: the predecessor is the third biggest foreign movie ever here, with 30,4 Meuros (inflated by a crazy 3D share).

Horrible weeks for the boxoffice here. (Holidays, Hot weather, Eurocup with Italian team on fire)

Some numbers (in Euro), almost all disappointing, as at Sunday

The Conjuring 2 total: 930.950 - Opens similar to first movie

Now You See Me 2 total: 2.369.205 3 weeks in play - First movie  4.423.000
Alice Through the Looking Glass total: 6.258.999 - 5 weeks in play. Alice 1 was five times bigger.

The Nice Guys total: 1.893.615

X-Men: Apocalypse total: 5.225.606 6 weeks in play - Xmen DOFP 6.579.929
Angry Birds total: 2.210.866 - 2 weeks in play - 63% 2nd weekend.
Warcraft total: 3.403.663 - 4 weeks in play

Pelé: Birth of a Legend total: 1.923.230

Nothing of interesting until late August.

Can somebody update the title thread?

Anyway, this week is going to be interesting. Suicide Squad opens today (unusual day, Saturday) in 550 screens and Pete's Dragon earned € 710k in three days.

Lights Out is at € 980k, Ghostbusters is now at € 1.9M, Tarzan reached € 4.1M and Purge earned € 1.3M. Let's see how it goes this weekend.
