Paul Newman is a true movie star.

 

1st act is the best, love the opening . The 2nd really really slows the picture down though.

This is one of the great American films of the 20th century -- not just in terms of when and who made it, but how it illuminates the American character and struggle for greatness. Visually it's also a snapshot of Americana that's now largely gone.
