The Visit (2015)

Wasn't as enthralled as others but certainly had some creepy moments and the twist was good, though the reaction from the mother was odd. Not sure why she would contact the local police and not just dial 911 right off. Anyway, I did like the acting of Olivia DeJonge and at the least other kid was tolerable (though I turned it off at the very end, during the credits, when he started "rapping" again; if I wanted to be tortured, I'd watch more YouTube channels). Also, not a fan of the found footage style but at least it made somewhat more sense and I could roll with it.

A Sam Raimi touch is what this really needed, it's never as scary or fun as the director intended it to be. Or, instead of trying (and failing) to scare the audience, it should have focused on its drama aspect, which is a lot more successful than its horror and campy elements.

 

Kathryn Hahn was surprisingly very good in her role and twist was good and unexpected. Didn't like that the girl started acting real dumb towards the end and the movie could have been made without the found footage gimmick. 55/100
