What stance do you take and why? Only movies that were fucked by bad release. otherwise, you cannot blame the audience if they don't find a movie appealing. But if a movie had appeal but was fucked by marketing invisibility, overly crowded release schedule, that sort of them, than yes, deserves better. I haven't seen Silence but that movie, for example, was fucked over royalty because of the rush to get it out in 2016 for Oscars 2017. if it started building buzz from cannes through Toronto,Venice,Telluride, and then got release in September or October to capitalize on festival buzz, it would have been a different story. It still wouldn't have been a hit but it wouldn't have died with 7M total or whatever. Another one that should have taken this release strategy is Paterson. But I guess Amazon was too busy trying to make Manchester happen they didn't really care.
TomCruiseTop
They make what they deserve. A movie isn't merely an audio-visual experience an individual has; it is the sum of many parts: marketing, release date, innovation, etc.

It is sad, but there is only one Tom Cruise, sound editors I can get by the hundreds.

See, that's the thing. There's only one Tom Cruise but these days there are actors who cannot open shit without a franchise yet are treated like they are Cruise (who opened everything in his heyday).
