The sheer deadpan absurdity of all is what's going to make or break this movie for most people. Personally speaking, I think it's deliriously entertaining and hilariously deranged.

I dig how it wasn't "We're going to fight this TOGETHER!" kind of shit, but "You're my god and master and I live by your whim, dad." 

 

That's twisted. Besides that, I feel if I hadn't heard how ~dark the director has a tendency to be, I'd be shocked more.

Definitely original! Loved the homages to 70s and 80s horror films with those long hallway shots. The deadpan acting makes the whole thing pretty unsettling but from a story perspective, doesn't really amount to a whole lot. I like ambiguity in these types of films but this was a little too much.
 

As a fan of psychological horror, definitely worth watching for the cinematography, performances and score. Just hoped for more from the actual plot. And I hope that scene of Collin Ferrell spinning was supposed to be darkly funny.

Had heard it was one of the better films of 2017, so had to check it out.

Lanthimos commands the screen with the confidence and skill rarely seen in the movie landscape, but some of the stylistic choices taken are maybe too ‘singular’ for its own good. 7/10
