Morieris
I would be extremely impressed if Sirocco got anywhere near it.
AniNate
The early reception has been extremely enthusiastic. It doesn't seem like it's that far out there compared to the typical Ghibli submissions, GKIDS just needs to campaign it. Certainly if Robot Dreams can get in I don't think Sirocco is that much of a stretch. Edited March 11 by AniNate

Well actually three of them. I forgot about the Piece by Piece thing. I'm very skeptical of the Lego documentary getting in. So yeah if you like animation outside the big name studios that make blockbusters, I guess this is the year for you
AniNate
Morgan Neville has a history w the Academy and I do think Focus is intending to position it as an awards player, so not ruling it out

AniNate
Apparently FLOW is going to Cannes as well, so that might be one to keep an eye on. I am surprised about no word on Marcel Pagnol, wonder if that might not be ready until next year
AniNate
Sauvages, Into the Wonderwoods, and A Boat in the Garden added to Cannes Cannes Adds Valeria Golina Tribute, Unveils Cinéma de la Plage Titles (deadline.com) Something called Silex and the City also going to Cannes but looking that up that seems like it's based on a local comic/TV series, probably not gonna be a US awards player
cannastop
What's the longest Pixar has gone without wining the Oscar for Animated Feature? Seems to be that they've only gone two awards cycles in a row without winning before now. Now they've been 3 awards cycles without one and there's likely to be a fourth one coming up. Of course there is also WDAS which won in some of the years Pixar didn't win.

WebSurfer
If The Wild Robot film lives up to the books then I can see it being a major player. However, this one may unfortunately go to one of the Disney sequels this year. No disrespect to those films, but more so to the nature of Oscar voters. I’m pretty sure Oscar voters don’t care about animated features unless they have some kind of speciality to them. Like, are they related to Disney/Pixar? Or, who’s name is attached to it? I remember reading some of the Oscar votes for Pinocchio a while back and I’m pretty sure one voter mentioned how they had a chosen favorite animated film that wasn’t nominated for an Oscar, but they went ahead and placed a vote for Pinocchio. It sucks, but I guess all that matters is if those films are financial successes. Edited May 29 by WebSurfer Clarification
