Thinking about this as some good movies now even open in February, do the studios still have a month they dump bad movies? Or are they now just sent to DVD, without opening in theaters.

I love going to the movies, but if I were to pick one month of the whole year it would be July. Films with huge spectacle should be seen on the big screen. July doesn't have the best movies, but most films which demand to be seen on the big screen (TDKR for example) are available in July. Seeing TDKR on the big screen is more important to me than seeing The King's Speech or The Artist (both were still must sees). I just feel less will be lost on the small screen compared to the mega-budget films). But the best films are usually released and/or available during December.
