A Marvel Fanboy
Does it look like Avatar 2 able to come out in dec 2016 .... nope DGBMH2 may have a huge OD on Single Day (11.11), but it is not going to beat Interstellar in total. As mentioned above, DGBMH2 has a solid presales compaign, securing 20m worth tickets alone on Maoyan/Meituan, the currently leading online movie booking site invested by Alibaba. (Maoyan is bigger but Gewara presales index has been proven quiet reliable.) It looks DGBMH2 could break Johnnie To's box office record though. There are just so many 100m~300m rom-com/romantic movies within the next four months through CNY.... Olive
less than 70 hours for Interstellar to pick up, the presales are weak because many theaters still haven't start selling tickets. Nov.11 is single's day in China, usually a big boost for cinema revenue. Most theaters are preparing for that, it's a pity that IS missed 11.11. druv10
Yep, will pass 50M after this weekend. GOTG's run has been very surprising. With a normal OW, it probably makes 105M+.
Olive
GOTG's run has been very surprising. With a normal OW, it probably makes 105M+. Yeah, if it had National holiday week, it may have beaten CA2.
druv10
Yeah, if it had National holiday week, it may have beaten CA2. That's why I'm afraid TA2 won't get day and date or a week early release in China like Europe. With that release 300M might be possible. A Marvel Fanboy
With a 5.1 day and date release, $300m were indeed possible for TA2. Three-days May holiday alone could produce as much as $90~100m for the film. That DGBMH2 preview was impressive. I am thinking big 60m+ on 11.11 for the Johnney To Rom-Com, if those B2C presales are any indication. (Clearly the earlier $100m+ prediction for IS seems not to happen considering how the film is performing in most places.) Think again, Interstellar may have a tough time winning next week against DGBMH2 ..... IS ---- 180m~220m ---- 5 days VS DGBMH2 ---- 180m~230m ---- 6 days + previews

Olive
Also, don't forget Penguins, which opens 2 days later than IS. 200M 5-day would be solid start for IS.

Olive
Projected total from 200M 5-day? 550M? Gravity made 220M in its first 6 days, but failed to reach 2x multiplier.

Olive
Lets hope for better legs than gravity... Gravity opened same week with Catching Fire. But Interstellar has local Rom-coms and Penguins to compete, I will stay conservative.
