The Santa Clause is a Christmas film full of nostalgia for this particular viewer. It's really weird, with disturbing implications at a lot of points. That said, Tim Allen has never been more lovable in his signature gruff way. Eric Lloyd gives a really great child actor performance too, and the film has a lot of heart thanks to the Calvins' father-and-son relationship. It might take one too many cringe-y liberties with the Santa mythos but ultimately, The Santa Clause stands up as an excellent Christmas movie that warms the hearts appropriately. B
