Guess this is my final update for IO2 too with data. Been fun. See you maybe with Deadpool. The walkups have arrived. Last fun info: the people during the Mall of Asia advance screening really seemed to be into it: lots of laughs - particularly with one surprise character + applause in the end from everyone (but some of the invited are influencers/content creator so...). When was the last time Philippines was mentioned in a Deadline/BOR report? Tomorrow we may be back hehe. Megamall's 980-seater cinema is sold out in PM. Clark's 3D PM shows are almost sold out. The 4:30/6:30 IMAX shows in North are also close to sold-out. IMAX MOA strong too.

boxofficefan
Not sure why Warner Bros. and Columbia Pictures stopped releasing PRs regarding the box office turnouts of their movies. Good PR sya to be honest but siguro the numbers are not high than before though for me good publicity pa rin. Insidious pa yata showing the performances of PH theaters. Also, SM North EDSA finally reclaiming the top grossing theater. I remember how it struggled with the entry of TriNoma and rise of better looking cinemas in fellow SM Cinema MOA and Megamall.

boxofficefan
Throwback muna tayo box office geeks, here are the performances of Philippine theaters from 1995-2004 (based on box office news released). Even before, SM Megamall, SM North EDSA and Glorietta talaga barometer if a movie does well in the Philippines. SM Manila ang naiwan, Red= #1 Theater for that movie

Around ₱1.6 million for pre-sales! Unless they add more screens, it's ceiling for today is around ₱3.5 million. Remaining seats lean towards the afternoon/evening shows so that's good ig. Again, top branch SM North made ₱4.16 million in FIVE Days for Inside Out back in 2015 (4% of the ₱97M) and today is clearly boosted by the holidays. Let's see the reception first. I don't want to give a number since we don't exactly have the comparisons yet here or data but even assuming the weekend dailies will be lower vs. today, a ₱100M opening week is so reachable. I don't want to jinx but I'm feeling good about this. and now we wait
boxofficefan
Animated movie 'Inside Out 2' raked in 88.8 Million pesos on its first day run in the Philippines, according to Disney Southeast Asia-Philippines, making it the biggest opening day of 2024 in the country. This record also makes 'Inside Out 2' the third biggest film opening of all time in the Philippines, next to 'Avengers: Endgame' and 'Avengers: Infinity War.' 'Inside Out 2' now holds the record for the biggest opening day of all time for an animated film in the Philippines. 2

Numbers last night were actually pointing out to 40-50M but holy f with 88!. Ok in my delusional mind I convinced someone at Disney to release it hehe This beats Frozen 2 which opened to ₱25.4 million back in 2019. For 5 days opening film, it did ₱315M ($5.8M). PH Opening Day 1. Avengers: Endgame - ₱205 million 2. Avengers: Infinity War - ₱141.6 million 3. Inside Out 2 - ₱88.8 million (-). Frozen 2 - ₱25.4 million Using Frozen 2, this will hit ₱1 billion by Sunday so let's not get ahead of ourselves haha. It was clearly boosted by the holiday. Sales return to Earth today (Thursday) but I expect the afternoon/evening shows later to sell very well again. 'Frozen II' was crazy since its opening Saturday and Sunday were both ₱100 million+ grossers. IO2 hopefully should do that too. It is still trending everywhere so that's good
