Extremely strong for Ice Age 4. Its drop was at least 20% better than any other film in the top 5. It was the only film to increase on Sunday and by a decent margin. Weaker Sunday for the bottom 4 films.

5 The Four $120,000   $120,000

Ice Age dominated the box office on the weekend which allowed it to open up a huge lead over The Amazing Spider-Man and the rest of the field. Not much change from projections except a slight adjustment down for Amazing Spider-Man and Painted Skin 2.

TDKR saw a big increase in admissions for OD and Sunday (almost 100 admissions increase from last update). The biggest surprise for me with TDKR is the strong pre-selling for midnights. WB could have gotten away with Wednesday midnights given these types of midnight numbers so far.

Some total actuals:

2. The Amazing Spider-Man - $7,275,738

3. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter - $1,133,328

4. Painted Skin: The Resurrection - $1,017,288

So TASM passed Spider-Man 3 this weekend. 7.5m should be crossed by Wednesday.

YES :D

Ice Age 4 actual: 2.1m (Screendaily)

Great start for the gang. Now, if it can stand tall against TDKR, 5m shouldn't be any problem.

Speaking of TDKR, naturally pre-sales have cooled off and people are waiting until full schedules are released.

Here are some other OW pre-sales for TDKR.

It's good but not record breaking. Walk-ins will be very brisk though. 1 PM showtime of TDKR is killing its % filled average.

And let's look at Festival Walk.

Another theater with good pre-sales so far. The 10 PM Friday showtime already at 2/3 capacity is an indicator that showtimes on the weekend will sell out or get close to being full.

Thursday schedules are out in some places. The Dark Knight is getting either 3 or 4 screens. Ice Age 4 gets 1 or 2 screens while The Amazing Spider-Man gets half a screen and shares with Painted Skin 2, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Full report coming soon.

The Dark Knight Rises gets 3, 4 or 5 screens from most Broadway theaters. Rest of the theater chains have given TDKR 2, 3 or 4 screens. UA has been more liberal with their showtimes and given Ice Age 4 and Abraham Lincoln a screen.

Tuesday pre-sales have so far been good for TDKR. Overall, it has been doing quite well so far but it will need to pick up in admissions if it wants to claim the 2D OW record from Kung Fu Hustle. Good news for TDKR is that the ticket price is more expensive than it was for TDK but the long runtime will severely hamper how much it can make OW. With Ice Age 4 continuing to do well, I think TDKR will come in with a very good 3m OW.

Ice Age 4 has been surprising strong at most theaters. Rural areas have been performing exceptionally well with TDKR only holding a 2:1 pre-sales advantage even though it has 3x the showings. Weekend should benefit IA4 greatly and I wouldn't be surprised if one of TDKR's screens shifts to IA4 on the weekend. IA4 is having good word of mouth and I wouldn't be surprised if it dropped only 60% despite the huge screen loss.
