Moana (2016)

Quite tired of this Corporate Girl Power™ archetype that models every single Disney heroine this decade. Moana reminded me of Judy Hopps, which reminded me of Anna, which reminded me of Rapunzel. All four display these overused and dull personality traits that makes it VERY hard for me to care. I was also reminded of Brave, how much better that movie was just because Merida felt like a real person.

Showed this to kids at work. They seemed to enjoy it, and I did too. It's still a very good movie with wonderfully catchy music and delightful characters. For the heck of it, it's better than Frozen and slightly behind Tangled. We need more animated movies like this one. B

It didn't hit me the way Frozen did, can't really describe why. Still, I enjoyed it well enough.

Remains a fairly enjoyable romp, but it didn't emotionally resonate as much with me as it has in past viewings. Still, easily the best of the three modern Disney animated musicals. B
