  1. Pretty seasoned drinker. Down plenty of water. Eat the sub that's easiest on your stomach. Down a black coffee just before bed. If you're coherent enough to post, you're not very drunk. If you follow my instruction, you likely won't even have a hangover tomorrow. Problem solved.
  2. I'd expect something more like 35/30/26/20 = 111 Now, obviously, I'm still curious to see more accurate numbers tomorrow morning.
  3. Did I miss early numbers for Iron Man 3 and/or Great Gatsby? Given Trek 2's hold, I'm thinking IM3 and GG hold very well too.
  4. Azkaban, Spider-man 2 and, later in 2004, The Incredibles. Awesome entertainment all around. Three fantastic filmmakers working at the top their game. Three of my favorite blockbuster films in the last quarter century. For me, that was the year for blockbusters. It's my white whale. I've been waiting for something that miraculous to happen again ever since. Azkaban's just a outstanding fantasy filmmaking. Visually stunning and inventive with plenty of character depth at its core. Great story. Spidey 2's the best executed comic book superhero flick for me. Hits all the right notes. And, The Incredibles was a such a satisfying surprise. Not to mention, one of the best superhero movies of the modern era. Cuaron. Raimi. Bird. All producing some of their best work on such grand tapestries. No more needs said.
  5. Still holding out hope for $40M+ OD for Furious 6. That said, while I expect the numbers to go up, I bet it falls just short. I'm now expecting a $5M increase from Fast Five to $39.4M OD.
  6. Well, gotta have pride here... It's like Manchester U. in the UK. That's what everyone knows most about my city and that's fine. I mean, more titles in Super Bowl era than other sqaud in the NFL. Rooney and Co. are legendary. Penguins play some damn fine hockey as well and will likely cruise to at least another appearance in the Stanley Cup Finals this year. Young, beautiful women love 'em some Pens. Going out on a night of a Pens game is something else. They're everywhere and they know the game well.
  7. It's hardly NYC or Chicago or Boston in regards to being hip. Even still, Pittsburgh recovered well from the years of the mills ruling the town. Now it's driven by healthcare and banking. Aside from Chicago, I'm pretty sure it's the only rustbelt city to grow in population over the last decade or so. Job market could be better but it's a pretty awesome place to dwell. Eclectic neighborhoods, decent art scene, quality party scene, awesome professional sports, a fair amount of great restaurants and a handful of quality colleges/universities (Pitt/Carnegie Mellon/Robert Morris/Duquesne/Etc.) all in close proximity. Born and raised here... So, well, it's home and I wouldn't have it any other way. Really cool that they're shooting movies here now given the awesome tax break... Films like Dark Knight Rises, Jack Reacher and Foxcatcher were shot here somewhat recently. Often rated "most livable city" in various widely known publications. Pretty cool.
  8. Cost of living here's so low it's borderline criminal. Bargain Monday's at my theater and Bargain Student prices Thursday. Paid $6.50 for a 10PM ticket to Furious 6.
  9. I expect most believe it will. I'm one of the few that believes it won't match the first D a la Potter 2.
  10. It's sitting pretty at $348M D heading into the long holiday frame... So, yeah. I'd say definitely on course for $400M+ D. Likely $410M+ D.
  11. Yeah, man. Not too pretty here in the 'burgh, a.k.a Hollywood East, a.k.a New Hollywood. Then again, I'm no fan of the humid summers here. Seems fall and spring barely say hello these days while winter and summer linger on and on.
  12. I know plenty of folks aged 25+ planning to catch THIII today, tomorrow and/or over the weekend. I expect nice bumps. Nothing substantial. But, I bet it grosses $70M+ over the 5-day.
  13. Hope you're right. Then again, I started getting greedy and hoped for a $10M increase on Fast Five's $34.4M OD. Hey, it could happen... More likely to gross just over/under $40M though.
  14. Pretty stellar start for Furious 6. That said, I'd hoped for $7.5M+ from Thursday's early screenings.
  15. Should Furious 6 manage to bank somewhere in the vicinity of $45M OD, what do you guys believe is a likely total over 3-day and 4-day?
  16. I expect it to rebound and perform somewhat okay over long weekend. That said, I bet the $14M estimate's too high by $3M+. And, with Fast, I don't want to get carried away, but I'm really feeling $110M+ possibly as high as $120M for the four-day.
  17. So you know you're not alone, here's some light reading for The Gopher and Omega... http://www.wired.com/underwire/2013/05/star-trek-into-darkness-carol-marcus
  18. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen caters so agressively to the lowest common denominator and so effectively so that I own it on BluRay and laugh uproariously throughout every rewatch. I'd sooner revisit that in theaters, if possible, before catching Into Darkness a second time. That brazen pair of Decepticon testicles dangling about's something I'll remember more than any one moment in Trek 2... So, lay off Bay. The only other Bay flick I own... Bad Boys II. The outright, unmitigated, unrivaled stupidy renders an unforgettable moviegoing experience. They're both really loud too.
  19. Will Furious 6 just release already so we can stop all the Iron Man 3 v. Trek 2 nonsense... We need some Friday numbers to quell the madness here. Come on, guys. For the record, the GossamerCounterRaiting's below: Iron Man 3 B+ Star Trek Into Darkness B- For me, both worked best in their comedic moments. I didn't think Trek 2 took itself very seriously at all. Pretty sure Abrams and Co. showed their hand in how quickly they resolved the ending and did so with humor. More than half of the flick was in-jokes, homage and winks and nods to the one of the famous Trek episodes and arguably the most famous Trek flick. And, hey, I'm not complaining.
  20. After reading this in a different thread, I checked mine as well. Shame on theater chains! Didn't realize Furious 6 was a bigger draw I guess.
  21. In my city, Furious 6 has roughly 3/4 the daily showtimes of Hangover Part III at some of the largest theaters in town. Wonder if this will hurt FF6's weekend haul?
