  1. Whatever happened to his Beauty and the Beast adaptation with Emma Watson? No go?
  2. In other news, Fast 6 up to 77% (89% with Top Critics) at RT while Hangover III sinks to 37% (21% with Top Critics). The buzz is there... Diesel and Co. best deliver at the box offfice.
  3. I can and will but they won't provide much insight. Though, they could provide a laugh or two. The theater five blocks from my place's notoriously empty aside from bargain Monday's. The early shows I caught for Iron Man 3, Gatsby and Trek were essentially empty, especially Trek 2. Then, of course, I caught Oblivion on Monday weeks after release and it was near capacity. It's a beautiful theater too. Not to mention, incredibly convenient. I really hope it stays in business.
  4. It's a woefully awful 30 at metacritic with 8 reviews compiled so far.. .Yikes.
  5. I hope you're on the money for all three... I'd love to see Iron Man 3 edge out Toy Story 3's $415M D for 12th all-time D.
  6. Good to see the top 3 all performing relatively well. Where does everyone see Trek 2, Iron Man 3 and Gatsby finishing DOM?
  7. This holiday weekend should tell the tale for quite a few movies. I can't wait to see how it unfolds. I wonder if it gives Christmas '09, the biggest weekend ever I believe, a run for its money. It may be close... At any rate, it may become the highest grossing Memorial Day weekend to date. What is the largest Memorial Day weekend to date box office wise? 2011?
  8. $200M D now seems likely... Don't see it grossing much more than that though. I see a finish near X2's $215M D as the absolute best possible scenario.
  9. RedBox, Netflix, torrents and Comcast essentially destroyed 'em unfortunayely. Disappointing 'cause I recall taking the sound advice of video rental clerks as a kid and finding some great classics and overlooked gems.
  10. I don't know guys... I'm pretty disappointed with Trek 2's inability to increase sales from Trek as well. But, it's certainly a blockbuster. I mean, it's likely going to gross nearly $500M WW and $200M D. It's a blockbuster. Iron Man 3's an uber-blockbuster likely to finish with $1.2B WW. That's crazy money.
  11. Yet to see Mud or Pieta yet, but i was pretty impressed by Upstream Color. Did you see any of 'em?
  12. So, if it's lowballed as you say, MTC's definitely expecting $90M+ Memorial Day weekend for Furious 6 and possibly a $100M+ holiday frame?
  13. Keep hoping... Trek 2 and Iron Man 3 will get a fine holiday boost. That said, Furious 6's isn't likely to gross less than $90M+ over the extended weekend. That's the worst I could imagine it doing.
  14. I'd have to say good for Gatsby... Really good for Trek 2 and Iron Man 3. Quality Monday numbers. Iron man grossed $4.6M last Monday and $3.2M this past Thursday. So... Well, that's pretty impressive in a small way and possibly bodes well for Iron Man over the holiday weekend. I expected $7M or less from Trek 2 so it also bodes well for it this coming weekend.
  15. Onward and upward... The Hangover Part III and Fast & Furious 6 lurk just 'round the bend. Can't wait to see how next weekend breaks down. I'm definitely contributing to Furious 6's OD.
  16. Speaking of box office disappointments, King Arthur's currently airing on AMC. Such an aggressively dull film.
  17. Honestly, after seeing Friday's numbers, I thought it would fall short of an $80M 4.25 day opening. While not overly impressive, Saturday's bump in sales seemed healthy. Not a bad recovery after Friday's $22M...
  18. Usually Nikki would've posted so Saturday numbers by now... What gives? Any more specific numbers surface yet?
  19. I was going off the BTC numbers posted earlier. You may very well be right. Though, it appears most rivals studios expect $65M true weekend at best. I don't see a 4.25 day total higher than $80M and wouldn't be shocked if it's under $75M... Hope I'm wrong.
