  1. Weren't Titanic and Avatar each the "most expensive film ever released at the time"? Isn't Avatar 2 that now as well?
  2. So why didn't all the other movies released at the same time as either Gone or Ten replicate their admissions if people were solely there for A/C. Other studio films were releasing then...
  3. Will Barbie/Oppenheimer surpass Last Jedi/Jumanji DOM? They didn't release on exactly the same day but close enough. Think they combined for 1.025B DOM.
  4. I thought both were fine but didn't love either. That said, I do love the life they each injected into the box office. I did like that each felt very true to the filmmaker in each case. It happens. I didn't really love Avatar 2 either. And, while I liked Top Gun 2, I much prefer the Mission films 4 through 7 over it. But, I was very happy others loved those as well to make them each box office juggernauts too.
  5. Try to remember any, even brief, moment of memorable action in the movie aside from a chase scene that felt like something out of a 90s sitcom. I'm sure we'll all get a good look at how she stages action when she releases these Narnia movies she's tied to...
  6. Fart Opera would've been fun and fine. It's not like Blazing Saddles doesn't have widespread farting and it was an admissions monster at the box office. It's not like Despicable Me and Minions movies don't have farting featured in each one somewhat prevalently. A shame she didn't keep it in the final cuts. Wonder what other fun stuff she decided to cut?
  7. Joker's iconic because pretty much every Joker other than Leto is iconic on the big and small screen. Cesar Romero is iconic in the '60s Batman TV series. Nicholson is iconic in Batman '89. Mark Hamill voicing the Joker in Batman The Animated Series is iconic. Ledger is iconic. Leto was a wet fart that everyone already forgot. Phoenix was iconic. BTAS Joker is arguably the best one.
  8. Just hit me that I completely forgot about that Miyazaki movie... How Do You Live... Which, I believe is now called The Boy and the Heron? How'd that do in Japan? When does it release stateside?
  9. In China specifically, yes. It has potential. Isn't the star of the Wolf Warrior and Wandering Earth movies one of the leads in it? Didn't a production company in China throw in a huge chunk of money toward the production budget? That should help it.
  10. The anecdotal MI7 isn't actually that well liked stuff seems silly to me... That's like me saying of 10+ I know that saw Barbie, only a couple liked it and those 2 didn't love it. Everyone else was in the it was fine or it was meh. But, of course, that doesn't mean overall word of mouth isn't stellar. Let's not pretend people were always too high with where it could get based on TGM. And, let's not pretend it wouldn't have done considerably better had it hypothetically swapped release dates with Flash or Indy. Sound of Freedom came out of nowhere and absolutely hurt it as similar but obviously not as robust as TGM, MI movies do well in flyover states and red states and that's especially where SoF over indexed. Barbie and Oppenheimer even hit the late late legs of Elemental briefly. They sucked out the oxygen from everything else. They are the box office right now. I expect it to impact Meg and Mutant Mayhem even a little. Part One was stupid too. Better to cheat like Fast X and Across the Spider Verse and just not include part one in title. Heck, Infinity War too. General audiences don't pay huge attention to behind the scenes stuff so while us here all knew long, long, long ago that Fast X and Spidey were part ones most others didn't. I mean, after knowing Fallout is essentially Rogue One Part Two as it uses the same exact primary villain and then ties up that storyline so it's always been odd to me that they decided to title it as much. When they hadn't done it earlier. It DID NOT impact the box office as much as SoF and Barbie and Oppenheimer but it was a stupid decision nonetheless. Those are the three biggest factors with its underperformance along with maybe some slight fatigue. By all metrics, audience scores are more than fine for it... Rottentomatoes Verified Audience 94% 4.6/5.0 Letterboxd 3.9/5.0 with 240K~ ratings Cinemascore A IMDB 8.0/10.0 with 100K~ ratings (I don't put as much faith in this one as I once did but MI7 film is the type that might get an uncontroversial rating there not voted up or down by many like other stuff there) ...those are all very strong audience scores. Just for a number of reasons, including a few I failed to list, it didn't take off with the same type of legs as Rogue or Fallout.
  11. What was the Tuesday number for Barbie?
  12. Black Panther's 40M+ on President's Day Monday (a holiday but like a true summer weekday than a bonanza holiday) is truly insane too.
  13. I'm actually much more impressed that movie from 20 years ago did that on a Monday regardless of whether it was holiday than anything I've read with these current number. Wtf. That's insane especially for 2004. What's that Spidey number with inflation? 40M+?
  14. I'll give Oppenheimer this... Made me appreciate Tar and Amadeus more than I already did. Reminded me of those more than anything. More than JFK even.
  15. Not sure about that but he is a fine actor and a welcome addition to any movie also refreshing to not see him as forgettable as he was in Interstellar.
  16. Main thing I can't forget from Oppenheimer is that score blaring off the walls even when they're sipping wine. I don't even remember what the second to last shot was... I remember Downey and Affleck being great in it. I remember being happy to see Casey Affleck in something as I hadn't seen him anything in a minute.
  17. ASTV 400 has been RIP for a while now. MI 200 since it's OW DOM. TLM Disney can/will still push to 300M if they really wanna. It's at 296M+ right now. Labor Day expansion or whatever and they'll get it there.
  18. I can't even imagine Barbie opening just under TDK then having better legs than it. I'm thinking just under 500M DOM if it opens to 155M~ DOM.
