  1. Yeah... That was like what... The 4th or 5th Little Women movie. It's good. It's another Little Women movie though. I'd like to see her do an original project with a bigger budget. But, given her recent ones are honestly pretty huge IPs like Little Women, Barbie and Narnia, maybe it's just not her thing? Speaking of Gerwig, I saw a movie on TCM a few weeks ago called Girlfriends. Somehow had never seen it. Awesome little movie from late 70s/early 80s. I imagine it had a huge positive influence on her when she saw it I assume long ago. I couldn't stop thinking about her early films while I watched it.
  2. I'd pop Cat in the Hat, Speed Racer and the Frank Oz Stepford Wives in there too. Too many other examples to list that I'm forgetting. By the way, unrelated to your post, but can't believe Gerwig is doing a Narnia flick for Netflix next. Heck, maybe it's the best fantasy movie in a long time but ugh. Just for me, that's an incredibly boring choice especially when she has all this cred. She'll never have more cred than she has now. She can do literally whatever she wants. Now, can we get Julia Ducournau on the next Barbie movie? Trick question, she already made her Barbie movie and it's called Titane.
  3. I'm not sure about MI6 as it wasn't DOM juggernaut but did well. Certainly doesn't have the repeat viewing factor of TGM but few films do. Doesn't it still have the best legs easily for 100M+ DOM opener in a long, long, long, long while. MI6 absolutely and Mario and even TGM would've been hurt a bit by something like Oppenheimer and Barbie opening within 10 days of their OD. This will be possibly the biggest admissions weekend DOM since theaters reopened during the pandemic. Would essentially impact just about anything. No shame in that.
  4. I wouldn't quite compare MI7 with D&D... But, seems like something ERC would do so not surprised.
  5. Shouldn't TLM be at 296M+ after next weekend? Not sure it hit's 300M but think the second number you gave is more likley.
  6. Is next weekend locked to be highest admissions in a single weekend DOM post pandemic? Higher than No Way Home's OW and Super Mario's OW? I think those are the two highest weekends (including other releases).
  7. It's a more backloaded franchise DOM and it's doing considerably better than Indy 5 OS will make potentially double Indy 5 WW when all's said and done. So... No. Not really.
  8. No. Ceiling is likely something like 160M.... Maybe, maybe 170M. Even still, if it flirts with or goes over 500M+ WW I can't see it not being painted as a success as that's the breakeven. Everything else (given word or mouth there should be a lot of everything else) that comes after is gravy.
  9. Elemental is not a success or even worthwhile story DOM unless it hits the @MovieMan89 multi and gets to 200M+ DOM.
  10. As others mentioned, SoF makes up for MI7 opening a bit softer than expected DOM. Holdovers seem pretty impressive DOM too especially AtSV and Elemental. Not a bad weekend at the box office DOM at all. Next weekend and the weekend after that and the weekend after that should all be very, very strong with Oppenheimer, Barbie, Haunted Mansion, Mutant Mayhem and Meg 2.
  11. Wait? Indy is gonna come in under 400M WW? I hadn't been following and just assumed it would do something like 500M~ WW even after the softer than expected opening.
  12. Used to put it right in the subject line more often iirc. Not sure why it's not done as often now.
  13. Also saw he mentioned Haunted Mansion was pretty good so hopefully that one doesn't bomb super hard if it has decent word of mouth. Maybe the numbers aren't quite what we'd hoped for MI7 but they're not horrible and the audience scores are very, very strong. Then Barbie and Oppenheimer will deliver the huge numbers. Then, potentially Haunted Mansion, Turtles are Meg are crowd pleaasers too. It's all good for restoring faith. That's a nice wide range of genres of good quality movies too.
  14. I'm hoping for Lashana Lynch. Bond didn't use her as well as Cruise/McQ will in MI. McAdams or Olsen would be awesome. If I had my choice, I'd go for Olsen between the two.
  15. Breaks my heart a bit too. The cast of incredible women in MI7 and just how awesome they are all in the movie is a gift. They're the best part and they all get juicy run parts to play. Huge smile. Looking forward to what the ones that are around still do in the next part.
  16. Eh... I'd add GotGV3 and AtSV in there too. Both did extremely well. Heck, if TLM crawls over 300M+ DOM, probably deserves an honorable mention as well. People scoffed at that 300M DOM then Faxt X, Transformers, Flash and Indy happened. Changed hindsight a bit.
  17. Didn't all the MI films not named Fallout make less than Ant Man 3? Didn't Fallout barely make more than Ant Man 3? I assume you're strictly referring to DOM? I guess I don't really get what peoples expectations were here. I always thought something like 200M to 250M (largish window but still) DOM because that's what all the other somewhat recent MI films (Ghost, Rogue, Fallout) have done in admissions.
  18. They did the same thing with Spider-Verse and Fast X this same summer. I don't see it as a huge deal especially for a series that was seeing growth rather than depreciation at the box office.
  19. Welp... There's at least gonna be a Part Two for DR. Then, honestly, probably another one after that. This "tiring" part of his career is the only thing he's interested in and I don't see that ending even if DR somewhat underperforms. Far too earlier to call anything either way.
  20. I'm not sure I follow.... Most expected it would sell right around the same number of tickets as Fallout... Fallout did 220M in 2018. With inflation that's what? 245M+ now? That's what I expected. Fallout opened to 60 and did 220. Indy is not a good comparison to MI. MI is a good comparison to MI. There are 6 of them before this one... Especially the last two with McQ directing are likely the best comparisons. Both had awesome legs. Neither opened huge.
  21. Bird is a beast. Regarding playful vibes, thought Dead Reckoning had that more than any MI flick other than Ghost Protocol. Atwell infused some wonderful fun into this one. Outstanding addition.
