Another great weekend for Avengers in Poland. IW is already the biggest superhero movie based on comic books in my country (after 1989). It beats Suicide Squad in just 12 days (11 without previews)!
Sorry that all the titles are in polish, I couldn't find such a list with original titles.
If we consider also films before 1989 (dark times in Poland, but with much, much bigger admission every year
) the biggest would be... Howard the Duck with over 3 million tickets sold.
EDIT: Okay, IW isn't #1 yet if we consider Men in Black as superhero movies (also based on comic books) - 839 708 admission. I can't find right now precise number for Howard, and there's no data about Superman I-IV movies in Poland. Dark times, as I said.

Okay, after this weekend the trajectory for IW is:
$675-725 mln DOM
$940 mln - $1B OS (- China)
$250-500 mln China
So, I think $1.85B worldwide is the minimum at this point, with strong chances to beat TFA and maybe even Titanic with over $2.2B if China explode.

Giving it a decent 2.5x multiplier from this weekend, it should finish 950-960M OS-China. DOM is looking at 650M. So China needs to do 400M for IW to hit $2B WW.
DOM is looking at $675-725 mln after this weekend. $650 mln is a pretty pessimistic scenario.
I hope IW will beat TFA WW numbers.

I hope titanic could retain its position here....Just too much unnecessary backlash on this all time epic.
I've watched hundred of films based on the recommendation from academy, IMDB, director picks and RT. Titanic is definitely a great film by any standard.
The only reason I can tell about its hatred is the movie gone too successful especially commercially and way too female-centric.
I hope BOT could restore what titanic supposedly deserved in the movie's history.
Titanic, for your consideration.
I totally forgot (or am I? I don't remember) to give this - one of my favorite movies of all time. FYC
I can watch this every day, every week, every month, every year.

Great weekend! Over $713 mln after 12 days is an amazing result! I strongly belive in $1.4B OS with China.
-
$140 mln OS weekend means less than 55% drop, isn't it? That would be great.
So, around $455 mln DOM and $705 mln OS after today? $1.16B WW?
-
Even $950 mln without China is still very possible.
-
Domestic will still have strong chances to +700 million after the 2nd weekend. It should be near $570 mln DOM before Deadpool's previews.

Pessemistic
$180M China 2x multi = $360M
$15M Russia 2.4x multi = $36M
$257.7M Domestic 2.4x multi = $618.5M
$382.8M Overseas -minus China/Russia 2.5x multi = $957M
$1,971.5M total
Realistic
$210M China 2.2x multi = $462M
$17.5M Russia 2.5x multi = $43.8M
$257.7M Dom 2.55x multi = $657.1M
$382.8M OS-Ch/Ru 2.6x multi = $995.3M
$2,158.2M total
Optimistic
$250M China 2.4x multi = $600M
$19M Russia 2.6x multi = $49.4M
$257.7M DOM 2.7x multi = $695.8M
$382.8M OS-Ch/Ru 2.7x multi = $1,033.6M
$2,378.8M
That's not "super optimistic"! With great legs (over x3) this might go over $800 mln domestic. But Your China numbers seems unrealistic.
My current prediction:
DOM: $715 mln (but I think even $805 mln is possible)
OS: $1,585 mld
WW: $2,3 mld

Those add to about 910, not 890. Guessing it will be more like 900-905 though.
You're so right. Thanks

Theatrical Performance Domestic Box Office $322,564,408 Details International Box Office $534,700,000 Details Worldwide Box Office $857,264,408 So, after the first week it's going to have $337,5 mln DOM and more than $570 mln OS = around $910 mln WW? If the drop during the second weekend won't be hard, IW will pass Civil War by Sunday!!

Infinity War did absolutely great opening in Poland.
271 279 admission during the weekend and 387 612 since Wednesday (5 days)! Till now, the biggest opening for superhero movies were:
1. Age of Ultron - 213 938 (697 489 all tickets sold)
2. Deadpool - 206 096 (759 083 all tickets sold)
3. Iron Man 3 - 201 733 (611 850 all tickets sold)
4. Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 - 191 309 (574 920 all tickets sold)
5. Suicide Squad - 171 512 (773 920 all tickets sold)
Avengers will easily beat Suicide Squad's record and maybe will broke 1 mln in tickets sold!

5-day opening in Poland will be big, bigger than any other MCU film before, maybe bigger than any superhero movie before!

1430 (665+765) - Star Wars 9
SW9 won't increase form TLJ, no chance. No Luke, no Han, no Laia, it will be 5th movie in only 4 years, and EVIII has very mixed reception. I wouldn't be surprised if it drops as JL after BvS did.
Avengers 4 will be bigger OS and WW, maybe DOM as well.

I would say, it's more like "after Avatar and 3D the box office changed". Without 3D with Avatar we probably would have to wait until 2015 (The Force Awakens) to see any movie to beat original Titanic's $600,8 mln DOM.

More like "okay, but not so original story", "disappointing, generic action" and "good villain"

No chance. Like zero. Won't be even close.

What else?
If not IW this April, than "Avatar 2" is the last chance in this decade. But I don't think it's going to have so massive opening weekend. More like twice as much as the first Avatar did in the first three days (maybe $160 mln). But its legs - oh dear. If there is any film with chances to beat TFA domestic record ($936,7 mln) it is Avatar sequel.

If the marketing will be right, and the movie will be good, Avengers 4 might increase from this one.![ ](//content.invisioncic.com/r255924/emoticons/default_ph34r.png)
