Marvel coming for their first Oscar

Anything but BP please, that last fight scene was ridiculously bad. I hope infinity war wins.

This might be the very first time in Academy Awards history, when the movie with objectively unfinished=bad visual effects will get nomination for BEST VFX of the year. BP doesn't deserve to be in this 10 - Fantastic Beasts 2 and Rampage have so much better VFX - but he is... only for being Black Panther.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is one of the worst movie of the year for me (3/10) but from the list above, it has probably the best visual effects this year.

    Yeah, right.

Now look at the budgets of those films, which of them were released also in 3D and which wasn't.

DCEU for now still has 2 of 3 biggest box office disappointments of the decade (Batman v Superman and Justice League / the third and maybe the biggest is Han Solo film) and not even one hit as huge as the first Avengers. In matter of fact, DC has no film with $1 billion worldwide since Nolan finished his Batman trilogy. MCU has already five $1 billion-grossers and one $2 billion grosser.

    Just stating the facts 😘

My ranking for 2018 superhero movies:

    1. Ant-man and the Wasp (8.0)

    2. Deadpool 2 (7.0)

    3. Venom (5.0)

    4. Infinity War (4.0)

    5. Black Panther (4.0)

    6. Aquaman (3.0)

Very bad year for comic book movies actually and honestly I don't expect much from 2019 either, the next one I'm looking forward is Wonder Woman 2.

    Wonder Woman 2 isn't 2019 movie anymore.

    IMO sh films this year:

    1. Avengers: Infinity War  9+/10 (might be my second favorite cb film of all time)

    2. Deadpool 2  7/10

    3. Black Panther  6/10

    4. Teen Titans GO! To The Movies  6/10

    5. Ant-Man and the Wasp  5/10

    6. Venom  5/10

And I'm not going to see Aquaman in cinema. I won't give Warner any more cash for what they're doing with DC Universe. #BringCavill&AdamsBack #ManOfSteelFanForever #WaitingForSupermanSequel

  4. I assume nothing. Fallout had 0 nominations / awards to any movie awards yesterday if I'm not wrong. It might get some, but this is not the same level as Panther, cause it's not "cultural phenomenon" outside the film. That's why I'm not fan of any film awards, they always very attached to the politics, the movie about holocaust has x100 more shot to get recognition than action film, BLACK Panther has x100 times shot to get recognition than Avengers or any previous sh film, and so on. . .

    PS

Mad Max: Fury Road or The Bourne Ultimatum are also sequels, and both get recognition. Fallout could too.

  5. @Barnack

We all know that Black Panther has great reviews, A+ from the audience (that's from the first day of screenings) and a lot of people love the film. No one deny that. But that's not the point, cause in this case, no matter how good the film is. This years social importance means more than movie quality. BP is so pumped, as I said before, because he is BLACK Panther. This year we have more blockbusters with so great reviews, there was for eg. Mission: Impossible - Fallout - 86/100 at MTC, at rottentomatoes even better grade than Panther(!), IMDb grade is also higher than Panther, people love the film, and it's a landmark in action genre. 0 nominations, 0 awards. Guess why the difference between the two is so huge in current awards season, if both are beloved films by the critics / industrie.

And why You call BP "non-sequel"? It's a Civil War sequel / part of big cinematic universe.

  6. tumblr_ogr0hxDBdr1r2wxwko1_500.gif

    Okay. . .

Yes, all people who believes that's we're living in world after #OscarSoWhite and Black Panther, as well as Selma few years ago, is so pumped to every awards, and no critic dare to gave him at least mixed review on metacritic, is racist. Believe that. :P

Of course  film about black character / with black director can have the same merits as a film about the white guy / directed by eg. Spielberg. No one deny that. But Black Panther is just not that movie. It okay blockbuster, decent film, nowhere close to be one of the year's best picture and I can name dozen of comicbook genre milestones who deserves to be the first Best Pic. nominated superhero film more than Panther. Not because they are about white superheros or something, it's just because they're better films, that's all.

But again, that's only my opinion. You don't have to agree with me, and there's no reason the get mad.

It’s literally the best received live-action superhero movie critically.  Infinity War is not.

It's might have been the best received superhero movie critically also due to PC reasons. :P

Check this out. BP isn't higher than IW if you look at Top10 of 2018 critics lists.

Also, I don't get it why You're attacking @Kalo It's just his opinion, he doesn't force You to agree with him. Let him think what he wanna think.

  8. 1. Avengers: Infinity War  9+/10

    2. Incredibles 2  9/10 (almost as good as the original)

    3. Black Panther  6+/10

I have a great fun watching Incredibles on the big screen - clearly on of the best cinema experience this year so far - but I vote for Avengers, which is probably the comicbook film of the decade! It's the definitive Marvel film, Return of the King of superhero genre and still my favorite film o 2018. It also might be the most emotionally powerful blockbuster of all time (yeah, I said that!), cause Russo Bros. boldly made the use of this 10 years / set up of MCU films/characters (of course it didn't work that good if You're not the fan and You don't now the previous MCU films. I am & I do :)). Black Panther was also fun, but it has a lot of problems, and due to all these nominations / awards / overwhelming reviews - which only harm the film - BP quickly become one of the most overrated films of the XXI century in my opinion.

Also, unless IX is crap, I think it'll do 700M.

TLJ from TFA was pretty much the same drop as ATOC from TPM. What's more, ATOC and TLJ were both very divisive (and depending on who you ask, terrible), in some way "tarnishing?" the brand for some people. Solo was basically The Clone Wars tv series of 2002 (pretty decent, but not watched by many). And if they can make and market IX in some way that gives a sense of finality, I don't see why it can't increase like ROTS

The same % increase from TLJ as ROTS saw from ATOC would give IX 750M. I'm taking off 50M and going with 700 because of the whole "ROTS had Vader's birth" hook which IX obviously won't have. But no doubt ROTS's sense of finality brought back some audiences. I think if Disney makes and markets this right, it could really challenge Avengers and TLK as a 3-way race for the 2019 crown.

    Episode IX ~$500 mln

Is it still too early to open my club Episode IX under Attack of the Clones adjusted? :)

    Domestic:

    01. Star Wars: Episode IX - 720M
    02. Avengers: Endgame - 690M
    03. The Lion King - 660M
    04. Detective Pikachu - 640M
    05. Frozen 2  - 515M
    06. Godzilla: KotM - 445M (lol, why not)

    LOL

Episode IX would be lucky if it finish on the third place, after Endgame and The Lion King.

  12. So... not only Avengers OS gross is bigger then Black Panther worldwide, but also Infinity War worldwide is bigger than Black Panther worldwide by more than BP domestic run!

    $2,047.7M (IW worldwide)

    - $1,346.9M (BP ww)

    = $700.8M > $700.06M (Panther's domestic)

    :ohmygod::sparta:

Panther was bigger than Avengers only in USA (still can't believe it <_<), South, East and West Africa, right?

  13. I love the marketing so far. Both teasers were great (I still don't know nothing about the plot, which is great) and all 4 posters (Woody!).

I don't get it the negative response. The names of Ducky and Bunny and Forky are exactly what child could come up with. The teasers will be definitively funny and appealing for kids and parents in cinemas.

Toy Story is a huge brand. No matter how big the competition is going to be, I think TS4 will be huge hit next summer. All fans form the lat 23 years will go to see it on a big screen. I'm thinking about $475 mln domestic (even $550 wouldn't surprise me) and $700-800 overseas right now.

BTW, Toy Story 3 is the last movie i gave 10/10. It's been over 8 years and I still haven't seen movie worth max. grade as TS3 is. :)

The early marketing for this is very similar to those terrible promo shots from genesis so for now i will write this off unless a trailer truly surprises me

Nothing is as bad as marketing for Genisys (theatrical trailers, posters, all...). Nothing!

    Spoiler

    fv5c1otxwas0u0pktwr2.jpg

"How to Save a Billion-Dollar Franchise" - apparently not like this :P

The new Terminator won't be as bad as Genisys, not a chance. From the very first Q&A with Cameron and Miller we can be sure that this film is developed by a men with passion, who love Terminator, and have some idea for the new story. Genisys smelled like shit from the early on, and - as Emilia Clarke and Jason Clarke admitted - no one had a good time making this film, even its director. It was made only to build a franchise for Paramount and earn some money. But luckily it failed (which was obvious from the start point for majority viewers, including me).

I hope that the worst is behind us.
