Oh man, that drop for Cabin is fantastic!Must have been all that putrid word of mouth.
-
It already is and I don't see that changing. Even if it only does 385M-odd.Great opening for TLAM and great hold for THG.
If THG crossed $400M that would be the biggest story of 2012 (unless TA beat TDKR)

Seems likely based on wom.Jump Street's gonna explode on DVD and BD though. Still, cracking theatrical run, shame it didn't launch higher here in the UK with the legs that its had.
-
Strong films can do well under those circumstances. Jump Streets run has been overshadowed by THG and may well have done better without it. It's done really well though.21JS held on very, very well. All the movies that did poorly in THG's shadow were also not that well-received by the audience.
-
I mean we all saw what happened to films that were too close to THG. They all suffered. JC and Wrath were completely overshadowed by it and films didn't do well the next week or two after either.I don't know about that. THG hype has died down a bit now. The market has been empty for weeks and that had a fair bit to do with the numbers it's doing IMO. Prime for a breakout. I don't think it would have done the same numbers two weeks ago.

Lol. Funny how that other film gets 30M+ and THG is mentioned in basically every post in the thread.
-
Most were expecting it to but they weren't expecting numbers that big.Who would have thought TLAM would beat THG? I knew it would breakout, but jesus that's a huge number.
-
Great for THG... if it doesn"t drop. Lolz
-
Awful for Wrath.
-
Lol. THG opened a week earlier and is third and Wrath is already out of the top ten. Hilarious.
-
Lol. THG drops by 0.1M. Why does it always drop?
-
Same. I'm kinda peeved TA hits in the US a week after Australia and co because we have to wait longer for reviews and the OW.still boring.... cuz I don't care for any of those films....

It's okish, but with a film with this budget Universal would have been hoping for more.300m OS is still decent.
I doubt itIf it makes 150m domestic,
Nah. The budget for this is about 210M and it has a huge marketing budget too. It's not going to do much better than VOTDT did worldwide and that had a considerably smaller budget than this does.I think that's enough for a sequel.
-
You have to realize that one a box office forum many people view things differently. I don't agree at all.I'd like to see the Avatar sequels as soon as anyone, but this is way cooler and more important than a movie.
Besides, he's just part of the company, it's not like his ass is going up in space.

Maybe Cameron can work next on cloning himself so the cloned version can do all of this stuffing around while the real Cameron makes movies.
-
Maybe people are saving money for TA now?
-
Boy, The Avengers can't get here soon enough.
-
Pfffft.Only about 10M yuan last week in China, down 90%.
-
Tangled numbers for this.
Seems like a good comparison to me.
-
I predict about 500M OS.

The reason anyone mentions Whedon on this site is because he's directing The Avengers which a lot of people are looking forward to, whoever the director is. I doubt many people would care much otherwise. You can go on about Whedon loonies if you want but there's only one person on this site that's obsessed with Whedon.
Saturday numbers.
