Based on history I trust RTH more than Nikki. I would say Friday around New Moon friday which would translate to OW record for sure.

Great to see RTH post. That is terrific to note studios are extrapolating based on just 48% of data. Of course with historical data from other theaters its always possible to be quite close IF they have data for all the markets.But the fact RTH feels it could make >> 70M still keeps OW record in play,

It was always remote. How can avengers beat a potter finale which was also 3d. This is despite potter being so frontloaded. But it looks like beating HG and may be TDK if friday hits 70M.$68m...

HG is beating potter for sure. THat is a great achievement for a franchise to beat potter finale without 3d.

ERC@twitter has THG at 6.5M. That is a solid number. Its looking at 22M weekend which is an awesome drop. I think its in a great shape to beat Potter 8.edit. BO.com has it at 6.45M. Still great stuff.

no offense but those are horrible comparisons. You are comparing blockbuster bumper opener with CGI and movies opening at 30M. It's not apple to apple comparison.Movies rarely drop less than 20% nowadays on their first Wednesdays. I don't know why some people are predicting 15% drops.
This month openers' first Tuesday/Wednesday drops:
The Lorax - +5.4% / -28.9%
John Carter - +10.5% / -27.2%
21 Jump Street - +11.9% / -25.4%
It seems the worse the Tuesday jump, the worse the Wednesday drop. THG with actually a drop on Tuesday, doesn't have much chances of dropping better than 25%, let alone 20%.

I am not sure why we are predicting doom based on this number. I think its very good. Unless all the holdovers had hefty increases while HG dropped.I still think it will make 400M+ domestic.

why? it made around 20M midnights and 135M without midnights. Needs about 2.8x legs without midnights to do it. Not that hard for a non-sequel with good WOM.To hit 400M, it needs a 3× multiplier from OW excluding midnights (it gets 402M). I think that's possible, but hard.

Fewl who opened HG > TDKR thread jinxed the movie. Even New moon increased quite a bit from estimates.Sign of mediocre legs for shoo.kidding. Awesome number for shoo.

This is easily the greatest OW of all time. there is no comparison to SM1 or any other movie. One could say something like Passion but this is at another level. I saw the movie and I am even more amazed. It is not an effects driven blockbuster nor the romantic angle was prominent. I must admit I got bored at places. So I am amazed by this number.

I dont think its fair to compare with twilight consider it has almost 4 Quad appeal plus the response is really good. But it would be tough for sequels to increase dramatically.I think THG franchise skipped the 'Twilight' stage and jumped right to 'New Moon' stage. So we should be see similar totals or slight decrease for the following movies.The second one will definitely increase overseas though.
