  1. Iron Man dropped a bit with actuals to £13.5m
  2. i think star trek is going to be absolutely massive to be honest.. would not be surprised if the 4 day figure is over £10m.. this iron man is a strange one as i didn't think there was much hype ahead of it's opening, but obviously it has done massive business. we've had tons of walkups
  3. i called this massive opening for iron man, extrapolating from my cinema's figures
  4. you guys should listen to me more often
  5. looking at what we've done i wouldn't be surprised if it was nearly £5m. we've had a massive increase today. we've actually done more today (admissions + £££) than we did on The Avengers' first Saturday.
  6. today we've done identical business to the avenger's first friday
  7. our bookings are way stronger for it for today
  8. we did double Iron Man 2's opening day here. audience were into it, lots of laughs and about half stayed for the post credits scene
  9. i wasn't very impressed with the xtreme screen at the vue westfield (stratford). the picture didn't fill the whole screen (about 4 ft off the bottom and 2 ft off each sides) and the top right hand corner wasn't properly focussed. the picture as a whole was a bit dim as well. the sound was very good though.
  10. I'm not feeling the hype for Iron Man this time around.. it will still have a great opening though
  11. good start for Oblivion at my cinema today.. very pleased with it
  12. the odd life of timothy green, dark skies and spring breakers
  13. I wouldn't be surprised if everything increased judging by my cinema. I'd estimate a £1.5-2m start for The Host.
  14. it is down to the cinema, but they are leaned on by distributors to do more showsbetter times for the 3D as that nets them more money
  15. the trouble is that RealD have the largest share of the 3D equipment market because they offered all the 3D equipment free to cinemas but then they get a licencing fee per ticket sale, which makes up some of the surcharge. the film distributors also consider the surcharge as part of the ticket price, so they also take a cut. so say the surcharge is £2.00, of that the distributor will take anywhere up to 60% (£1.20), RealD will take probably another 60p for their licencing fee so that is most of the surcharge taken up really. other 3D systems (master image, xpand, dolby 3D) don't all charge a licencing fee but a hefty upfront cost of equipment and installation. you'll find in some cinemas with some of those systems they charge a much lower 3D surcharge, or in rare cases none at all. cinemas with a realD system can't take away the surcharge without cutting into their own share of the ticket price.
  16. Good weekend for The Croods. We've done OK on Jack the Giant Slayer at my cinema. I'd predict between £1.5 and £2m for that
  17. The Croods was the best of a bad bunch for us yesterday.. hard to tell how much effect the weather and the football had though..
  18. The Croods did £1.7m in the 2 days of previews.
  19. busier than expected for us with Oz today. lots of families. should be pretty big over the weekend.
  20. launching films (the official website for the UK Film Distributor's Association) has it down for the 9th http://www.launchingfilms.com/release-schedule
  21. 1. Wreck It Ralph £3.1m 2. Die Hard £1.6m 3. Mama £1.5m Cloud Atlas - ~£540k Song For Marion - ~£430k
  22. anyone got any figures for anything this weekend? particularly the openers
  23. Song For Marion is only getting quite a small release.. we wanted it but the distributor wouldn't let us have it until week 2.
  24. cloud atlas seems to be getting very few showtimes round here. i guess warner bros are expecting a flop.
