i know wales is only a small part of the UK box office but apparently the covid passes there are having a big effect on their numbers, and the social distancing they're bringing back (as well as scotland) next week will also hurt it
clifford was number 1 on saturday. will end up being pretty close for the weekend although I think west side story should still come out top.
not great for spielberg though almost being beaten by a big red dog!
i don't think it's the restrictions as such which are having an effect (although who really wants to spend 3 hours of their leisure time sat wearing a mask?), but just the whole media narrative changing is definitely keeping some people away.
West Side Story, House Of Gucci, Clifford, Ghostbusters, Encanto was the top 5 yesterday.
WSS will comfortably win the weekend, but not a great opening for it. Maybe only half of Gucci's opening weekend based on the Friday
Ghostbusters was #1 on Saturday, just ahead of Gucci. Will be neck and neck for the weekend.
Ghostbusters down about 45%, NTTD down about 50% (just under maybe).
bigger drop for Bond this week - down nearly 40%. maybe because you can rent at home now?
think ghostbusters might approach £4m for the 4 day weekend depending on how much it jumps on saturday.
sub 20% drop for Bond incoming by the looks of things. Dune also with a decent drop, maybe 30%.
Last Night in Soho #8 on friday just ahead of Halloween Kills
holidays start tomorrow here.
at my cinema the competition for screens is really harming bond, as well as the length. selling out every show still but just down to 2 shows a day from tomorrow with all the new stuff and it being half term.
