  1. Wonder if Oppenheimer can stay above 10 today
  2. I think it's possible it can stay above 10m. But might be impacted a bit by loss of some Dolbys and other PLF's outside of IMAX>
  3. Remembering Ken narrating the segue into this bit. A harbinger of what was to come.
  4. Total should be just over 700m. It was around 673m from original run and then rereleases in 2020 got it to 700m, mostly from China. BOM is jacked up
  5. Speaking with Jat earlier, Oppenheimer is the kind of movie that won't have especially impressive Tuesdays, it's hugely powered by PLF's and not really benefitting from discount pricing propping up attendance if there still isn't enough PLF's available. But Wednesday might be a softer drop as a result, that's the number to look out for going into the weekend
  6. You mean Kendall killing a guy and pretending like it never happened wasn't likable?
  7. I highly doubt Nolan personally oversaw the list of who's credited down to the VFX level but it has been to his benefit to drum up hype and downplay the involvement of VFX artists, which is less than kosher and deserves criticism. But in the instance of credits, I imagine this is down to Universal and whatever they worked out with DNEG and then negotiating from there who gets included, resulting in tons of people being left out.
  8. Yeah, he talks to Teller before the bomb goes off
  9. Don’t see much room for Oppenheimer to go past 81.5m but showings today should match attendance until the late night id imagine so a 15% drop seems right to me
  10. Personally feel the 2nd half really worked for me more so than say the first hour
  11. To be clear, this was purely a decision made out of logistics, not preference in order. Because of the way the showings were aligned and wanting to go to dinner direct after as a group, Oppenheimer made more sense while avoiding a long gap time (plus a few not doing the double header having either already seen Barbie or going another time)
  12. I'd be moderately concerned about a B. I think a B+ would be fine. But if there was any movie where Cinemascore might be way off the mark for a blockbuster, it's this one with the Barbenheimer double feature muddying the waters
  13. Don’t think I’ve ever seen Nolan laugh that hard, are they bffs
  14. I think his style has started to become increasingly at odds with modern blockbusters. His use of sound and score, visual style, and even the pacing/editing of his films is IMO, a lot more experimental and different compared to its contemporaries of today. On a superficial level, structurally in terms of plot, yes there are similarities, but I do think some of these changes also contribute to why his films now feel different to his ones back then, whether you think that's better or worse.
  15. If this is opening to 60m+, I would put the domestic target around 200m, and I guess 250m OS. 450m would be a really good total. 500m would be pretty astounding.
  16. I think as Nolan has gotten increasingly idiosyncratic/experimental in his style, you're just bound to have some people not really be on board with it, Grace being one of them is not terribly shocking. It doesn't make her brave or stupid. It just is.
  17. https://time.com/6295742/oppenheimer-review/ Stephanie Zacharek seems to enjoy this one, she's kind of gone back and forth on Nolan, but considering she was hot on Dunkirk, I assumed she'd be on the positive side of this one too
