  1. I think it's doing low-mid $30's for Saturday. It's late June opposed to May like the other $90 million openers of the summer. TF3 didn't have the biggest Saturday boost either and that was with a Wednesday opening. Either way it is a strong performance.
  2. I'm going to go get drunk by a pool. When I come back tonight hopefully delightfully intoxicated hopefully there will be some fun numbers to talk about.
  3. I agree, I have it doing $360 million. Still, I don't think it is a guarantee to do under $400 million, as well as CF did.
  4. I don't think it will either but Catching Fire wasn't supposed to either and look at how that ended up. Don't count out THG franchise.
  5. 2014 has been a pretty shitty year but I think 2015 is going to be ridiculously huge so I think it will compensate. AoU for $90 million OD?
  6. If it had Imagine Dragons doing a song for it, I'd say it would do $100 million. Since it doesn't I'm going with $55-65.
  7. I love both How to Train Your Dragon movies but I can't help but believe Dreamworks kind of deserves this. Years and years of driving a "quantity over quality" mindset of pumping mediocre animated films out (aside from the occasional Panda or Dragon) and trying to recreate Shrek (also a series the ran into the ground) they finally get a film that is pretty much universally loved for being unique and unlike their other films. It opens modestly but great WOM brings it to a very good total. A big factor of what helped it was it's freshness and what does Dreamworks do? Immediately plan an onslaught of short films and a fucking TV show along with the inevitable sequel.
  8. First Class was a fun, solid movie mainly boosted by its two leads. Avengers was the ultimate summer popcorn movie, but there wasn't a whole lot of substance to the plot. I love TDKR, but the film definitely has it's ups and downs throughout the 165 minute runtime. It starts off kind of rushing into things, almost. The middle section is pretty slow, and the last hour is phenomenal despite a minor plot hole or two. DOFP had everything I hoped it would and more. It took the best of First Class, the best of X2, and morphed them together to make the perfect X-Men movie for the post- TDK comic book movie world.
  9. Well I guess Michael Bay saved the summer box office. First $100 million opener of the year and definitely the last until Mockingjay. Still, it's hard to see the movie hitting $300 million from here. The only reason TF2 and TF3 look like they had good legs is because the opening weekend was deflated by burning off two days worth of demand before. I think this will end up in a 3-way battle for #1 for the year with CA2 and Lego. Welcome to the boards, straggler! Don't worry, every weekend won't be as negative as some people are this weekend.
  10. I guess the trend of movies being tailor made for China will start now. I don't think this is a good thing, either.
  11. Well TDKR played on 103 15/70 screens and Interstellar is reported to be getting around 55. So yeah I'd say they took a lot out.
  12. That doesn't even begin to describe it. I seriously have no idea what happened. It's like remembering a night at the bar you were really drunk on. Flashes and bits of crowded scenes where there really isn't a coherent reason driving anything. And lots of loud noises.
  13. Sitting in the theater for this 9pm TF4 show... if I make it out alive, maybe I'll have some good Mark Mark quotes.
